Scrathed my car...reallly bad
I park in an underground garage while I'm up at school and there is this pillar deal to the right of my car, well, as I was pulling out to go to work I scraped it pretty significantly. Check out these pics...

What do you fellas think?
Can I fool the insurance company some how?
How much in damage do you think that is?

geez that looks really bad. i wouldn't try to fool the insurance company. your insurance would go up. get an est. from a local body shop. i can't imagine it would be more than a few hundred. better than paying more every year on insurance.

is any of the metal bent? If so then it might be more like 500 or so to get it done right. Anyhow, if you really find it necessary to tell the insurance company then tell them that a truck side swipped you. LvMyCL23 has a very good point, though.

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
I had the same thing happen to me when my 03 was just 9 months old, but mine was worse:
In my defense, the column moved. Here's the column, I was making a right hand turn and took it too tight:
My deductible was $500 and total cost to fix was $1000. I was going to go out of pocket but the timing couldn't have been worse so I had to go through the insurance
I filed a report with the owners of the garage right after it happened, so that the insurance knew I wasn't trying to scam them on a hit & run or anything.
Don't trick insurance companies. It's not worth it. Progressive didn't give me any shit, they just took pictures and cut me a check no questions asked. It couldn't have been more painless.

DUde, much worse than current Mcdonald's drive thru scrapping,
same side, almost the exact same spot. gotta watch the turning radius , nice on the highway but lovely for garage parking, tight parking and turning..... I feel the pain too!!!!!!!

wow
that sucks. we've all done stoopid shit. i had my car for about three months and one day woke up really hungover and tired, went to wash my car, started it with one foot (5 speed) being lazy and let out the clutch once it started and wham car goes right into the garage door
there isn't anything you can "fool" your insurance company about. You'll either have to report it or not report it. both are the same in this instance. there is no other driver in this scenario, so no other insurance company to pay for your damage- if you say someone side-swipped you, there is still no other driver - so YOUR insurance will have to pay HOWEVER you report it.
my suggestion: get an estimate on your own. if the cost to repair isn't a lot more than your deductible than just pay it
