Rocker Panel Moldings... anyone paint them?

I have a black 97, which the rocker panel moldings (stock sideskirts, rear lip) are not painted. Has anyone painted them diy , and how did they turn out? I can look for another black CL and change them or just pick up a set... but thats kinda expensive. If its pretty easy to paint them, I might try that. What i'm worried about is because of the rough surface of the rocker panel moldings... the paint will have a hard time sticking... even with primer and sanding. Let me know!!! TIA

There's a paint additive you can get to make it adhere better to plastic, body shops use it all the time for plastic bumpers and plastic trim, otherwise you would probably want to sand them and rough them up a bit so that the primer had something to stick to.

dupont has a whole process for cleaning and prepping raw abs and other types of plastics. It involves sanding the plastic with a grey scotch brite soaked with a plastic prep cleaner that smells awful. It then involves putting 2 light coats of a green adhesion promoter. wait and hour and then seal right over that then base and clear. did mine and they look perfect. no rock chips and no problems so far.
