On the road again....
On the road again....
Been messing around with the EMS and FJO wideband. Got the idle and vacuum side of all the fuel maps pretty well dialed in. Drives much better than before even with the timing maps and fuel maps still needing to be tweaked (just a matter of time).
Heres a snapshot of one of the first boost runs.
You can see I still have some fuel to add (varies from 12 to 14 a/f ratio under boost here). A couple more days with the wideband and I'll be set.
The engine load is the 3bar sensor reading of boost level (it varies from 9 to 12 while the crappy autometer gauge is dead nuts at 10psi). I tend to trust the 3bar sensor a little more than the guage.
The thing to notice is I'm at 40% duty cycle on the injectors at 10 psi which means I've still got plenty of fuel left even at ~10 psi.
Keep in mind this is one of the first boost runs and is not where intend to leave it (need to get fuel at 12.5 for all of the boost levels).
Things to note with the EMS:
This unit is not impossible to tune. On the other hand it is not for everyone. The base maps that are out there worked fine on my car. Got it running the first day with very little work. However the maps for the f22b1 are limited and there arent ANY with a 3 bar MAP and 500 cc injectors.
Automapping has the car running like stock in the normal driving ranges (vacuum and low rpms). I've used it the boost ranges but the loads and rpm vary quickly and is hard to stay in the respective ranges long enough for the unit to correct itself, but this is only my 1st attempt at boosting.
The car is running now with none of the headaches I've heard from other EMS users (idling high or dieing at stops, etc.).
I wouldnt recommend trying this standalone without a wideband though (I dont even see how this would be possible).
Cliff notes:
Got boost again.
Need to work on fuel and timing maps.
EMS is very doable.
Automapping does the work for you.
Setup:
F22b1
Golden Eagle Sleeves (85mm)
Crower Rods
Wiseco 8.8:1 Pistons
AEM EMS
FJO Wideband
T3/T4B (Modified FMAX kit)
500cc RC Injectors/255hp Walbro/AEM FPR
Quaife LSD
ACT Extreme PP w/Street Disc
DSS Stage 2 Axles
Accel 300+ Ignition/8mm Magnecor Wires

the autometer a/f gauge is decent enough with some appications, but it does become inadequate under lots of boost/nitrous. but hey... whaddaya want for $50.
haha..... i was looking at the injectors also.... so when you gonna do 15lbs
did you pull in 2nd gear or 3rd?
is this the bulit block? or still got the stock one in there?

15 psi will be the minimum on run on this engine (the built one).
Thats 3rd gear, but just trying to tune not going for anything else right now.
Track will definately happen after the dyno session.
Acura-C and I will make it over to Cordova sometime this summer.

I only live 20 min's from Cordova, i am plannin on going..... Once i get this damn engine running that is!
I'll let you know once we get closer.
Hope you know it goes against my better judgement to even talk to someone who has more than one over head cam.......j/k
It'd be cool to make it a small meet or something. The more the merrier. Someone bring a tow truck 'cause I'm not going home till its broke or I hit 12's.
(I know this will require an H22/23 tranny which I'm currently in the market for).

Congrats!
BTW: How are you planning to get all of that power down on the pavement?
I ask because without drag radials, my car just sat there and spun like mad (both on stock and Kuhmo radials).
My Nitto NT Extremes seems to grip a little better, and the 555's (drag radials) make me worry that I'm gonna snap an axle.
12's, huh??? Looks like I need to rethink my strategy to keep up with 'ya. :P

I know I'll need new tires for sure. Have a ways to go before I hit the track.
Need to have 3" exhaust welded together, finish tuning (& dyno), then get tires.
Its a slow process, but I'm getting there.

Definitely, the more the merrier. A little more 3.0 representation would be nice...:P Getting spanked by all you 2.somethings will be tough to swallow. I may have to bring the R6 instread...LOL
Let's plan early enough....I'm there man!
niedejb, your car is definitely lookin good!! Cant wait to see it on the track!!
