rims and lowering

first off all, i want to put racing hart c4's 19's on my cl and want the lowest of the lowest profile tires and also want to lower it as much as possible. can this be possible with out flaring it and can i lower it to a good extend to where the cl would look really good but not start rubbing. Also, whats better, springs or coilovers?

one more thing. does anyone have any pics with a 1stgen cl with racing hart c4's?

hey bro, welcome! where in so cal are you?

I like coilovers because you canadjust them. (i have skunk 2's) most of the time springs produce an eneven drop. Theydo ride a little better though. If you got 35series tires on 19's you might be able to pull off a 2" drop without rubbing. (if they ared 225) I had 18"s with a 3" drop and no rubbing.

For springs, I'd recommend Eibach sportlines. Coilover's, definitely Tein's. I wouldn't use the pro-kits, unless you want a real consevative drop. With pro-kits, you don't need a camber kit or new shocks. Anything lower than 1.6, you're going to spend tons more.

well brb10, first off, welcome to the forums. other than that, its possible to drop your cl 1.75 inchs with 19's. you can maybe, just maybe, squeeze 2 inches out with 19's. but i guarantee that sometimes you would rub from bottoming out. mine is dropped 1.75 w/ 19's, and i can barely squeeze my finger between the tire and fender, so i think any lower is pushin it. if u're gonna get 19's, go with a pro-kit, not coilovers, why get coilovers if you can only lower it 2 inches? any lower and you wont be able to turn

I also have 19s and have about 1.75" drop as well. I could go lower however, but I dont want to. I just had my springs installed so they have yet to settle, but right now there is no gap in the rears and barely 1 finger up front. I expect it to settle to about 2" drop all around after it settles since I heard Neuspeeds settle pretty far...

yeah, it depends if by rubbing your talking about when your on the freeeway and hit a little dip/rise and rub, or if your talking about rubbing when your making a u-turn

when i had 225-40-18's, and my coilovers were at about a 3" drop I could somehow turn my wheel both directions without rubbing at all.

with 19's it's gonna be very close with even a 1.5" drop, so i wouldn't risk going much lower unless your getting coilovers. And yeah, coilovers are kinda pointless for only a 1.7" drop, but at least it'll be even. Go for teins like someone said if your into spending a G on suspension :shakehd:

yeah, i know. i could get them if that was my priority, but i want an h22 now. plus i've already been through 2 other sets of springs before i got the skunk 2's, so i probably could have had some fucking teins by now if i wasn't so stupid with money. enough about that, it makes me

BTW-dennis, your car looks sweet now with the teins! 1st gens just look right when they are that low! I don't usually like chrome, but yours is a g-ride gangsta
