my friend told me about this. youre supposed to do it for like 15 minutes so the ecu erases all the seetings it had for your car. in this case they would be the restricting stock settings(ie not a lot of air flowing, not a lot of exhaust flowing) now that you have intake and exhaust you have lots more air flowing and exhaust flowing. the ecu does not understand the concept of that so it just goes by what it knows. when you diconnect it for a long time it forgets all the stock settings. what you do then is drive the crap out of the car for like half an hour after reconnecting the ecu so it learn the new flows in intake and exhaust.
it's reccomended that you do that after every mod which is supposed to increase airflow or exhaust.

this is just qicker way to get the results. the ecu intime detects the new seetings and gradually changes them. but if you are impatient this is the way to go.

sorry to be so long.

Yeah what he said While you don't have to do it, you should if you are say having a race that day. Then again, if you just drive hard, it will 'relearn' pretty soon..

Just take the negative battery cable off. wait for a while and then reconnect it. When you start your engine again don't touch the gas. Just let it idle for about 10 minutes on its own, the computer is relearning the engine conditions at that time.

Hope this helps.

I have NEVER done this. Wonder what the difference is. Maybe I should wait till I can afford to dyno again.

Wish I had known before.

yo after some time ur ecu will eventually adjust for ur mods, but if u reset it u get the benefit rigth away. i doubt ull really see a diff if u reset it and dyno again.
