Replacing Timing

I got an estimate on replacing my timing belt (108,000 miles) The book says 4.6 hours, @ $60 per hour, plus parts. Also, add .3 hours to replace water pump. Im looking at about $700 for the timing and water pump. How does the compare to your expirences? Is this a good price? Thanks

Ok, Called a couple other shops

1st shop- Returned my phone call and said it needed a special tool, and they wouldn't touch it.

2nd shop- Timing Belt, Water Pump, anti-freeze, tax included $550.14

500-600 is what it goes for around here. Depending on the shop. The local bmw shop doesnt even charge 60 an hour.

See if your local Honda dealer will do the job for less. Otherwise, just go to the cheapest mechanic that you can trust. That one shop that said you needed a special tool probably doesn;t work on hondas anyway. There's really no need to specifically go to the Acura dealer.

$700 seems high.

As I recall, I got the timing belt & water pump done along with front brake pads, a full tune up and transmission flush for about $1000.

The Acura dealership in the Saint Louis area is going to charge me $900, and that's why a 10% discount... I'm going to start looking around for shops that will do it for less, because the belt alone only costs like $40...
