Remote not working

Hi guys, I have not been in here in a while but yesterday late night my remote stop working. And before everyone tells me, Yes I did try to replace the battery, more than once. when I do so with a new once the light up top goes to a solid red and stays like that. Any ideas on how to fix it? I don't have a spare remote either. If anyone has any extra's let me know

Thanks.

Joe

Here ya go...

Applications:
  • 94 - 02 Honda Accord (all trims)
  • 97 - 99 Acura CL (all trims/egines)
PROGRAMMING REMOTE TRANSMITTER
NOTE: Procedures must be performed within the stated time limits. Four
remote transmitters may be coded into system.
  1. Turn ignition on. Within 1-4 seconds, press remote transmitter lock or unlock button while pointing transmitter toward keyless entry control unit. Turn ignition off within 1-4 seconds. Go to next step within 1-4 seconds.
  2. To program another transmitter, repeat step 1). Four transmitters may be coded into keyless entry system. If more than 4 transmitters are coded, the first transmitter code will be erased. After all desired transmitters have been programmed, go to next step to verify system operation.
  3. Within 15 seconds of programming final transmitter, press lock or unlock button. Verify that door locks operate and go to next step.
  4. Check door lock operation using each transmitter. Turn ignition off and remove key. Remote transmitter codes are now stored in keyless entry system control unit. Reverify door lock operation.

Man this sucks someone spilt coffee on it, I took it down to the Acura Dealer and the guys looked at it and the back of the remote is stained on the sticker a dark brown color. never noticed it before

they want 49 bucks wholesale price for the damn thing.

not going to happen

Anyone have a spare for a 97 3.0 lying around they want to send to me I will hook them up. I have access to many other remotes, manuals. I purchase cars for a major rental company.

Let me know I need one asap

Thanks

Joe

actually

I have this exact problemwith the exact same car as well. I bought a new remote off of ebay and tried the reprogramming of the remote with no result. I'm not 100% sure where the transmitter is but i was first sitting in the drivers seat pointing the remote towards the speedometer then later removed the dash mat cover and pointed it at some square thing in the center of the dash....

I working on getting a helm's manual or a basic chilton's.

I would think so, but last time i reprogrammed mine, i just pointed it to the dome... worked fine...

i have a spare remote but i don't know for which year vehicle...

FCC ID: E4EG80-443H-A; CANADA: 850 102 1625A

if you know it works for you, $5 + shipping and it's yours.... i got it off ebay for $25, turned out it doesn't work with my car (not the same FCC ID, etc.)

The FCC ID is on your remote, it's on the back... there's a white (or yellow) sticker with the info...

That's one thing I was on top of. I made sure the FCC id's matched. I'll give it another shot tomorrow. Any common sense tips or tricks? Leave dome lights off, close all doors etc.?

Ok, once again I have a 2nd gen, but will chime in a little...

On the second Gens, the remote should be near the steering column. Turn the key to the ON position, but NOT the RUN position.

I have done this a few times before and I don't have the instructions on me right this moment, but what was stated seems correct. I will get them tomorrow and check...

I do know that the instructions that I followed, was to do this around 2 or 3 times over. Then it should work. I think it is a security feature, so that some random person can't do it while you are turning your car on. I think the door should be closed.

Also, I believe you have to have it in the ON position and not the RUN position, because the remote is deactivated when the car is in the run position.

I hope this helps the people having problems...

Do the following a few times an be sure to do it within the times limits specified.

"Turn ignition on. Within 1-4 seconds, press remote transmitter lock or unlock button while pointing transmitter toward keyless entry control unit. Turn ignition off within 1-4 seconds. Go to next step within 1-4 seconds."

After the 3rd time, you should be able to have the doors lock/unlock while the key is in the OFF position.

if you follow the instructions i posted, it'd work fine... of course having the door closed should be included, lol.

and OP: just shoot me a PM after u talked to the dealer...

Just called the dealership and they said the FCC ID has nothing to do with the remote at all. They said as long as the remote is for the car they can program it.

So i dunno?

the solid red light sounds like it's shorting b/c something wet/sticky got in there; i would try to open it up and clean the coffee out of it with alcohol + a q-tip.

I have had this problem for a few months now and i have no clue what to do about it. My battery ran out on my last transmitter and i have replaced the batteries and tried ever single piece of information that i could find on the topic. I have tried hitting lock and unlock buttons 6-10 times with no luck, i have tried holding them individually then simultaneously with equally no luck... I have done the reprogramming method with no luck. My remote is the stock one that i purchased with the car and work flawlessly until i attempted to replace the battery. The red light on the top of the remote is always illuminated when i have a good battery in it and it does not go out... unless its reprogrammed i guess...

As far as i know i have tried every type of turning the ignotion to II and off within 4 seconds combination that i found... i have tried it, as far as i know, with every single combo with doors unlocked and then locked.

If anybody can help me out or if there is a thread that i couldn't find that tells me what i am doing wrong, it would be greatly appreciated. I tried calling a local acura dealer and the operator always asks me if i purchased my acura there and i say no, then i am transfered to somebody else and they tell me they will call me back; i have yet to hear back from them...

Thanks.

wait the red light stays on all the time? i didn't have to reprogram my remote when the battery ran out. either your remote is shot or you have the wrong battery in it if reprogramming doesn't work.

When you take the battery out and put it back in the red light at the top of yours is not a solid red? It was working perfectly, i just noticed that i would have to hit the button a few extra times to unlock and lock my doors, thats when i bought a new battery and the light is always solid.
