Remote Beeps

I just bought a '99 CL 3.0 (black) after my '98 CL 3.0 (blue) was totaled last weekend (wasn't my fault... it was the fourth time it was involved in an accident, none of which were my fault!)! I just found this site last week and I'm happy I did. This is my first post, so I apologize if this has been answered before...

I noticed that my '99 beeps once when I lock the car with the remote, and beeps twice when the door is unlocked. This used to happen on my '98, but quit working for some reason. I was actually glad it stopped because it really bugged me. Is there anyway to disable this beep without disabling the lock/unlock ability (fuse, etc)?

Thanks for the replies guys... I read in the manual, as crazyCL2.2 said, to push the trunk release then the lock button. I just went outside to try it and it doesn't work for some reason. I've tried it about 10 times now... I even took the battery out and put it back in (the remote battery)... the manual said that would do it to. Hmmm...

No, no, no - press the trunk and lock at the same time - watch the red light.

I personally love the chirps - esp now that I live at an apartment complex. Scares everyone away from touching it.

Okay, you guys are awesome (and you know way more than I ever will about these cars). I was under the impression that I had to hold the trunk button then press the lock button, but I tried both at the same time and it did the trick! Thanks alot guys... also, my neighbors say thanks as well.

if you hold the trunk and the lock button you can change the alarm from silent to loud and vise versa

well you do ahve to hold the trunk button 1st then immediately press the lock button and hold both down for 2 seconds.

but since you got it working, good for you

i personally love the chirp. kinda tells people that the car's "protected"

Most common thieves that just want your stereo, etc won't bother with a car they know has a real alarm. Too much noise, chance for someone to see them. Our stock alarm chirps really don't sound like something factory (most cars just beep the horn or w/e). It's like having your own personal watchman. :cop:
