Remote

Hey, I got a 99 CL and I was wondering what type of remotes will work with it. I lost my remote once and figure it's good to have a second one. I see honda ones on ebay and wuz wondering if anyone could confirm for me if they'd work with my car. The numbers on the back are as follows: FCC ID: KOBUTAH2T and CANADA: 1983 102 297. Thanks!

If it's anything like the remote on my Subaru, you program the car to accept the remote, not the other way around. Of course, I don't know where the reprogram button on the CL's are.

I can see if i can find the instructions for you. It is really easy for you to reprogram them. Just get a remote off ebay from that looks like ours for an acura and it should work.

I think it would be really wise to ASK the dealer first. I mean it never hurts to ask... then act! I'd hate to see you invest in something that won't work. But like Oreo said you could go aftermarket if you wish -- that would offer you more options and increased protection.

I think you hit the lock button 6 times in a row or something... I know you can reprogram them, because you have to when you replace the batteries. So look in the manual, there's instructions on how to do it.

I accidentally stole CLPower's extra set of keys (hey, HE put them in my purse, they look exactly like mine, I didn't know, ok? ), and I'm considering programming his fob to my car until I give them back to him, so that it doesn't matter that both sets are on my keychain, either fob will open my door. I have to leave them on my keychain, btw, because I lose everything and it'd really suck to lose someone else's keys, so I put them with MY keys and then I have to find them at least once a day.

You shouldn't have to reprogram anything when replacing the batteries in the remote. I've done it a few times and have had no problems just putting new batteries in. It was my understanding that the remotes just transmit a code, and the car responds to particular codes it is programmed to remember. Are you talking about the car forgetting if the car battery is dead? (I'm not sure if that happens either, but it sounds more reasonable).

Anyways, tw1112 posted the 15-step process of re-programming a while back (all I had to do was search! )

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...program+remote

It's about halfway through the thread.

Well I've never replaced my batteries, so I couldn't say, but that's what I heard.

BTW, good boy!

Ok FYI I moved the thread that you just posted, exxcite, into the "Extremely Useful Topics" section, ok? SO you guys should be able to find it easily next time. Cuz that really is an extremely useful topic.
