recommendations for speakers

im going to install some new speakers all around soon, and i was wondering what kind everyone has...replacing the 6x9s and 6.5s, probably with infinity perfect...are there any other speakers to replace besides the 6.5s and 6x9s? After i do that ill look into subs and amp.

I'm kind of against Infinity right now. They're okay speakers, but there's too much highs and not enough mid-range. I've had 2 sets and my sister had 1, so I know what they sound like in different cars. I really like Alpines. They don't distort at high volume and the sound is really clean and not at all irritating to my ears (like the Infinity's). The Type S's are 3 ways and have a real clean, broad, clear, sound, the Type R's can handle more power are 2 ways and so they don't have the highs that the Type S's have and the sound isn't as clear. I'm personaly going with the R's all around just cause I like the sound better. Someone said 3 ways in the back might ruin the sound stage, but I'm sure someone with more knowledge can either confirm that or whatever...

Infinity for tweeters
Cerwin Vega for bass and midrange.
And there will be so much sound in the car, that the only way you could tell the surround is with a meter. Eventually, you won't be able to tell anyway, constant exposure to >120db will destroy your hearing over time. And that time ain't long. So your best bet is to use the current speaker positions unless your intention is for something not appearing stock... Show car.

^werd on the JL's...you get what you pay for,

ive got morel components up front, theyre just sick, i love em...a couple of my buddies have them in cars, they sound good where ever you run 'em

dude, if youre replacing everything...go to some audio places around where you live, and try to get sponsored, you'll get some wicked gear for good prices if you rep for the shop

i got it offered to me when i was shopping for head unit....i was fuckin happy, but i refuse to put stickers or decals on my car.....

Definately buy new... You don't want to buy subs that were pounded by 2pac and fitty-cent if you want to listen to Winton Marsellas or Cole Porter.

Its not only the quality of the speakers but what pushes them. If you expect to get great sound from your head unit then you are wrong. You get great sound by amplifying
that sound.

Nice picks, I like Orion Amps a bit better than Pheonix Gold. Nice for not too expensive.

IF money isn't a problem. I would go with Dynaudio or DLS comps. I have Dyn and my dad has DLS and they sound great. BUt you'll need to change out the HU and AMP for it to sound good as well.

my 6x9's were a bottom mount depth of 3 3/8
my 6.5's up front were 2 1/16 depth, and both fit fine.

It all depends on the size of the magnet. Mine were huge, and wouldn't go in all the way, and sat on the trunk springs.

Notice the height difference as well.
