Rant

SOOOO.. Me being so JDM, I was trying to install my rotors (Thanks Excelerate) in the dark. I really couldn't wait till this weekend because I was hoping to get an alignment on Saturday.

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Instead I get to spend the morning drilling out the damn philips head screw that hold the damn rotor on. Then go around town trying to find a new one!!! GRRRRRRRRR... Why in the hell would they put a fucking Phillips head... There are hardly any screws on the whole car.. WHY the rotors... Stupid Honda!

Just my rant....

yea i noticed that?? whats the deal. i think those are on alot of cars though. did you strip them or something, that would suck. you would have to use some kind of easy out or something like that.

BTW if your were so JDM you wouldnt have to work on your car youself.

when we installed my new rotors we used a cutting disc and obliterated the screw head lol. and part of the old rotor as well. afterwards the rotor came right off and we were basically able to unscrew what was left with our bare hands. then we slapped the new rotors on and then the wheel and i drove off lol. the screws are for holding the rotor in place when you go to change your brake pads. other than that, the rotor is actually held in place between the hub and your wheel (the lug nuts hold it tight) during normal driving.

were you JDM enough to use a left-handed screw driver to try to remove it?

i know your pain man, when i got my rotors installed (i worked the rear, the mech did the front, got half-price )...we used everything to get that phillip head out... normal phillip screwdriver, then impact gun, busted the slot so we cut a new slot and used a flat head...nothing worked so in the end we just drilled the phillip out... luckily the mech had a lot of screws lying around...

Edit: I'm so JDM my ceiling fan's VTec engages at 100rpm...

You didn't use the right tool to take those screws out.

There's a tool where if you hammer it, it torques the screw either way when it is set to which direction it needs to go.

EDIT: You guys are JDM yo.

FAWWWWK... If I would have known that. That shit would be done by now... I was unsure that there was an actual hub, or the studs were pulled into the rotors. Then the screws held the whole rotor onto a hub.

Guess i'm not JDM

The screw is to hold the brake on during assembly, you dont have to put a new on there. Didnt but it back on when I put my rotors on.

Well..... CL-1 Me-1 Drill-1..... First screw drilled out very easily. Took me like 2 min. Had the fronts done in about 30 min. Pass. side came out with no effort at all.... THEN I got to the back. Stripped both screws, then the battery in my drill went dead. The drill is a 18v Rigid. (Best cordless drill I have ever owned. VERY Torquey)

So yeah... Tomorrow is another day.. But I got the front on. Took if for a little drive.

For some reason I think my rotors have solved a lot of my vibration problems up front. Car felt a lot more stable. Maybe its just me .... I dunno.

Is it possible for rotors to create vibration at speed without braking?

looking at those pix it seems to me like you have the left and right side swapped on both the fronts and the rears, but i could be very wrong lol. can anyone verify?
