ran quarter mile........

ok, went to a car show in alabama today and there was unlimited quarter mile runs....so i ran four times before locking down my speed runner.........i have a 97 2.2cl with auto tranny......i had full tank of gas and subs in the trunk.....so i wasnt exactly light......anyway, enough excuses........heres my times

r/t .............. .770
60................2.745
1/8...............11.555
mph..............62.48
1/4...............17.895
mph..............77.58

all ive got is generic short ram........and this was my best time outta the four..........also my first time.........the other times i ran with a passanger and my time was about a 1/2 second slower....anyway, later guys.........hopefully that ZEX will cut 2 sec's off! LOL! LATER!

Are you pleased with your times?

Most of the DC area 2.2s that ran with me at Captial Raceway were running low- to mid-16s. We had one guy run a 15.8 in his '97 2.2 (with mods).

The Zex will certainly help those time!

Take that extra 200 punds off your car and you should be running stock times again. Lose the Sub box and go to the track with no more than 1/4 tank of gas. Also, no passengers!

Practice your launches and never try to run the 1/4 using D$, use 3rd gear for a better time.

And yes, those times that were run here in DC were by sticks and autos, so there is hope!

how are you launching?

no offense but your 60ft times suck. every 10th of a second off the 60 ft is two-tenths off the quarter.

i ran a 16.2 with a CAI. my 60 ft was 2.4 i'd be happy if i could get it down to 2.2, 2.3. i have a 5spd by the way/

Sorry; I didn't mean it as a put-down!

I was just surprised that you also didn't run in the 16s.

BTW; they were all 5-speeds.

ok guys........ive been putting it down in d1, thn shifting to d2 when i redline, then d3 then it over.......you think just leaving it in d3 and running would be faster? i shoulda tried that yesterday but forgot! ya, the subs and gas definetly slowed me down, but oh well........with time ill get better! That was my first run too!

I put in in D3 and let it rip. I get better ETs when I let the car shift, rather than running through the gears.

I didn't realize that you have an auto. The auto, subs, and 18s really impact our times!

d5c5b,
sup man. i think i met you in that atlanta meet. anywayz, i was in alabama (alabama international dragway) this last friday. dunno if that was the same one that you went to. i ran only 3 times. first time, 16.5, then 16.4, then 16.3. i think that i could have done better, coz. i peeled out too much. the ground was still kind of wet, but oh well. maybe next time.

.. 1.9 60 foots.. heres the trick ready.. you guys better pay attention here.. cuz its only getting told once.. this is for manual transmission only.. do this with an auto you'll blow it to pieces.. get some nitto drag radials.. and a 75 shot of nitrous... not zex or nos or something.. get NX.. heat up your bottle with a torch, coolant return from motor.. or preferably an NX bottle warmer.. keep it at 1200lbs of pressure... do a good burnout involving the ebrake and shaking the wheel vigiourusly to get your open slip diff to catch both wheels.. arm the system at the line AFTER your burnout.. purge the system to get that icky gas out.. you want the mm mm liquid white stuff.. rev up your motor at the line.. keep the rev right before the rev limiter.. and make sure not to give it full throttle.. or you'll blow something up there too.. soon as the tree hits the third yellow.. drop the clutch and push the gas in the rest of the way.. now.. you'll hear a lot of disturbing sounds.. and you'll think your cars falling apart underneath you.. but ride the spinning tires out until the rev starts moving up.. it'll stay right below rev limiter for a few seconds while the tires catch.. then smash it into second gear.. using the clutch, and easing off the gas just a bit so the car dosn't hit rev limiter.. or you'll blow shit up.. do that the whole 1/4 mile..

and i didn't even charge you guys..

thats why you replace it with a good clutch after a few runs.. and its better to lose a clutch or pressure plate then a tranny.... speed dosn't last, and fiber glass body kits and boom boom's don't get you home
