Ram air
Yeah Yeah I know this doesn't do anything unless you going like 70 mph. But did anybody here every try to make a ram air with the CL. Where you empty out the resonator area in the bumper and have a hose connect the front of the car to the air filter directly?

me and a buddy of mine made a "homemade" ram air for his civis si. we took all the intake off, took out his headlight and make it come out right there.....it looked retarted but oh well. possibly noticed minimal difference. but with no filter we would have to ride out to the track take his stuff off, put the ram on and then fix it all back when we left. didn't take long to do...funny shit

FMIS
I've never seen another one... overall, I like it. It was a b*tch to install, but that was because I had to learn for myself how to remove the bumper. Once you know how, it isn't so bad.
Yes, I clean it fairly often... probably clean and oil the filter once every 3 months. In the winter, I have to run the plexiglass cover, otherwise salty water dries and crusts it with salt. (I'm in Wisconsin. Yes, winter here sucks.)
It definitely sounds better than the stock intake (in fact, it sounds great!), and it seems to make good power. I have the FMIS and the DC Sports full exhaust system. When the VTEC is on the cam, it just roars.
If you are looking for easy maintenance, don't get the FMIS. You have to keep up with cleaning the filter, that's for sure. But, on the positive side, it sounds great, seems to make good power, and gets lots of compliments. I always hear "wow, did you put a turbo on that car?". No, just an intake. "That's really cool."
(If only I could get *them* to wash the filter for me!)

the main thing i head is that the piping is so long it cancels out the slightly cooler air and aem and ingen outperformed it and easier to maintain. AGIAN I HEARD. not stating fact other then the long ass tubing is a negative.

That's possible... I'd have to see dynos of the two back to back. But, that would be nearly impossible because it takes so long to install or remove the FMIS.
I'm certainly not claiming that it is the best, it is just an option.

That is why the plexiglass only goes on in the winter. It's hard to race anyone with snow / ice on the ground anyway.
Like I said, I'm not saying it is the best system, I just saw that someone asked about it.

what baout making a RAM air with ahood scoop? is there enough room under the hood for something like that? Would be a pretty short pipe or same as CAI. I think a hood scoops would look kinda hot on our cars. I mean it is raelly different but one of the small ones does not take away from the lines of the car.

If you do it RX-7 style it'll work. Like have a small scoop (or even just a flat cut with a little backing) offset to the passenger side. Then you could drop the pipe right down where the stock one was, and bend it over to the manifold! Give it a go. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Custom is expensive though

cutting the hood is the biggest cost huh custom piping isn't expensive, in comparison. Plus painting the scoop. I really think if you are going for show car, that would be the winning ticket.

Honestly it wouldn't be too terrible. But it would be more than most people are willing to spend for just ram air. I don't know much about body work and how its done so i don't know how hard this would be for a bady shop to do.

this is the one but im tryingto find a pic with a better angle for you. There used to be a lot more of this kind on ebay... its pretty small so it keeps to the lines of the CL prettly nicely "I THINK"
:EDIT:

the carreras would probably be a better or I should say easier application to the CL since the intake is mounted there on the left/passenger side of the car, but I think this hood scoop is really smooth and the carrera one doesn't really go with the CL.

is anything not common "hated" on here? and who said anything about nsx side vents... not like that white one in the other thread. Why would someone be putting on NSX side vents when we have a front mounted engine? Do you want to increase the drag coefficent by a factor of 5?? At least the front hoodscoop would be actually functional... it isn't just for having a hood scoop.... for performance not looks, but IN MY OPINION, I don't think the hood scoop looks all that bad on the CL especially the first chopped pic, thanks for chopping it by the way FUSIONNV.
Anyway I think the scale for the hood scoop is off on the first pic, I think the real scoop is a bit smaller not bad, not bad at all. Wonder if the gains would be more... more "forced induction" less tubing...
