raised manholes- 1 CL-0
tonight started off nice, went out for dinner for my cousins birthday...then after all that i got home and had nothing to do so decided to go for a cruise..
so im cruising down, takin side streets/curvy roads (putting the D2's to the test), blasting music etc etc..
then i decide to cruise down a street that i usually go through when im cruising..so ya, im just doin a nice slow cruise and all of a sudden i hear BOOM, BLAST and i get a face full of airbag...well im confused/scared as fuck so i pull over and after the dust cleared i notice that both my airbags went off and my windshield is cracked to shit...so i get out and just started freaking out...the road was cut up for construction followed by a huge raised manhole and the best part was that there was no fuckin sign at all

so first thing i do is call my dad and he heads up to where i am..i manage to pull into a school parking lot and wait it out, but as i take off i noticed that some part off my exhaust is broken (sounds horrible)..im thinking the cat or downpipe..
so i head home and to my luck notice that my car pulls like a bitch to the right just to top things off
...i pull into a police reporting station and tell them what happen but of course there's nothing they can do cuz the car was lowered...they were cool cops, didn't fuck with me or anything and told me not to bother with insurance cuz well..lowered car + insurance company = 
so ya..im left with needing to buy:
- new steering wheel (gonna get a nice one unless i find a cheap ass stock one)
- new pocket for the passenger air bag
- windshield 
- whatever is broken on the exhaust
- and hopefully just an alignment
2morrow im gonna raise the car up and see how bad the damage is cuz i think i may of cracked my oil pan too
...i'll get some pics up 2morrow but at the moment i think i got a concusion but im not really sure..

What kind of crooked insurance and rules do you have in Canada.
1. Should be signs letting you know of raised manholes
2. Insurance is for accidents and it aint like you planned on ripping your car to shreds.

the airbags deploying will break the windshield? talk about major design flaw...
acura/honda should be paying for that glass if they made it so that something hitting the bottom of the car break the damn windshield...
i'd sue the county if that happened here....
i hope you can get it fixed soon, good luck with all the repairs and lets hope nothing is severly wrong with the suspension :S

if there was no sign you have to file a claim against the city where you had the accident. They should pay for all repairs to your car. or they will get the construction company to pay for it. I suggest you go back and take a picture if there's still no sign there to have some evidence. and then call them to find out how to claim.

sucks dude. you're having some bad luck lately. hopefully you can get the city to pay for some of that shit. i'm sure that the city of oakville has a few bucks to spare

whynot just raise ur car... and never say it was lowered as much as u were? It prolly woulda screwed anyone over if they had gone over it, besides a big truck or something...

they should put up signs for any road work done. if you need a better insurance, i know one thats really good and you pay for 1 year, not 6 months.

Damn man, that's what took me so long to lower my car was because I was on my way home from work, after going out for happy hour (no i wasnt drunk) and took a route i don't usually take and the road was ripped up. (this is before I lowered my car) so I'm dodging 3 foot high sewer grates all over the place swerving, and there's a cop at the end of the road, so I couldn't swerve for the last one cuz I had booze on my breath, and took it full on, and scraped my tranny right along the sewer. Which busted the seal on the gasket, not sure the exact location of the 2.x's underneath, but def check the tranny as well. Also, if the windshield cracked, your frame might have bent

Looks bad man, hope you can get it fixed, if you raise the height you think you could call it in to the insurance? Just a thought. Also, I haven't driven my CL in a week because they've been ripping up MY street in front of my house and the sewers were stickin up about 2-3 feet. They repaved it and there's still like 6 inches, just wanted to rant, cuz I'm afraid of that happenin to the CL. At least I got the yoter

I hope that your ride isn't too badly bruised underneath. GL with getting your ride back on the road quickly.
At least you weren't hurt in the end (other than in the a** from the pain of getting everything fixed. )

but ya i just got back from takin pics and there still aint no sign..took a shit load of pics and saw some jag rip something off the bottom of his car too...nobody sees it till the last second, even in the day time
and ya i took a look underneath and
...aint pretty- tranny busted open
- cross member fucked
- downpipe flat
etc, etc...im uploading pics now but we're goin to talk to the lawyer monday so we'll see
