When I disconnected the battery on my '98, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find my code (I bought it new). so I just put a CD in the deck & it started working. Never had to put the code in or anything. I thought it was a little absurd, but hell it worked for me.

 

heh...at least you got it to work....took me 2 hours to find my code until i could listen to music again in my car..its not fun driving around with no music...
