Raced a WRX

Just raced a WRX tonight......twice .

First race was off the line. The wrx got a great launch off the line, 4wd drive is awesome. I got a horrible start and peeled out forever. After I finally get some traction I start to catch up. The WRX ends up beating me by a cars length.

Second race is off a rolling start at 20 MPH. As soon as we start I get a car legnth in front and stay that way until we shutdown somewhere around 110 MPH.

All I got to say is that car is amazing and as far as I know the car was stock. I can see why Ridinlow likes his so much

Mods if you prefer to move this to racing stories go ahead but since its about a 1st gen CL I thought it would be better appreciated here.

Does your Zex spray at full throttle or certain rpm? I figured you were spraying because those little WRX's haul some ass. Turbo or not they are quick. Good job.

I raced him on US1 by Sunset Place really late at night when there is nobody on the street. Yes I sprayed my 75 shot racing him both times without it I wouldn't of had a prayer to win either race. Zex only works at WOT. As far as I know all WRX's are turbo 4wd and run low to mid 14's stock. Hopefully Ridinlow can read this and let us know the actual stats on WRX's. Automatic trannys might be good since you won't miss any shifts but they can't handle alot of power, so they are pros and cons to autos.

You can get a Level Ten rebuild. I've heard mixed results, and not sure if it's worth it.

dcsquirm88: Great kill!

Thanks Dustbuster

Level ten does do tranny rebuilds but for alot of $$$ and they are getting sued for false claims and trannys the break weaks after being rebuilt by them.
Manual cars in the hands of good drivers are faster than automatics. I wish my car would of come manual .

Switching auto to manual can be done on the 4 cylinder CL's using a 94+ accord tranny or a 93+ prelude tranny. You would need the following parts: a pedal assembly, a manual center console with a shift boot, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, hydrolic line between the master cylinder and slave cylinder, left axel assy with the intermediate shaft, 5-speed tranny mount, shifter with cables, a clutch and a pressure plate. I'm guessing you can get all the above parts and a tranny for around $1,000. Then if you can install the new tranny yourslef you'll have to pay for labor.

hey dcsquirm88 what color is your cl? I saw a black one with the bumper lights switched saturday night arround 10-10:30 pm on I-95 (I think exit 2 or 3) We were coming from Bayside. if that wasn't you do you know who it is? I was gonna take my CL but ended up going with my friend. He has a white 2000 prelude. Also saw a red Skyline on Bayside...Have you seen it before? That racing machine really stands out.

Nope wasn't me. My CL is white on white rims. Haven't seen a red skyline but it wouldn't suprise me. You see the coolest cars at south beach and bayside. I see a black skyline quite often, since one of the guys that works at blitz drives one. I was actually at south beach Saturday night to bad we didn't see each other.
Heres a pic of my CL in case you ever see me.

Oh and perfecto there is no manual tranny that will fit a 3.0 CL. Honda never made one for the j30a and no other tranny will work with it.

dcsquirm, didn't Blitz just move from being off Bird rd to over down off Kendall Drive? I swung by there when I was home around Christmas and they were getting ready to move all that stuff out

Yeah Blitz did move one of their location off Bird road. The one that used to be on Bird and 137th Ave. is now on Kendall Drive and like 127th. They still have the other shop on Bird Road and 90 something Ave.
But honestly I really hate dealing with them, for tons of reasons I won't even get into.
