Quick Release is it possible??

hey fellow CL owners lol, ive been a member of this site for a few years now but dont really post much due to the fact i really only use the site as a guide to see how to do things and what has been done/can be done, which has been really helpful btw. But there is one thing i haven been able to find on here an i have searched numerous times an still nothing.

What i was wondering was,is it possible to do a quick release in our cars? is it the same steering wheel setup as the 94-97+ accords? Now i know smokinH22CL has an aftermarket wheel but it only looks like he has the hub adapter and wheel from the pics i seen.

Your info/input would be great!

^^^ yes i did.
you have to disable your airbag first before trying to remove the steering wheel.

so to the people on here that have done it already, 1. if you were to get a hub adapter and/or quick release, what car do you get it for? 94-97 accord? 2. waht brands have you used? 3. why is there no DIY for this yet?

Glasses are a horrible excuse for getting rid of an airbag. I'd rather have a bruise on my face for a week than be dead. Unless you're one of the 1/2% of people with actual glass glasses, polycarbs are not going to go into your eye, the frame will bend or break and the nose pieces will give you some bruises.

Other option, head flying through windshield, whip lash, being completely thrown from the vehicle, a permanently installed steering wheel in your forehead.....death. idk Sorry for the rant, I've thought about this myself quite a bit and can't find any evidence that there is any statically relevant risk from wearing eyeglasses with an airbag deployment.

I personally wear titanium wire thin flexon frames with polycarbonate lenses. Got punched in the face with them on... nothing, well other than normal punched in the face injuries.

I should get rid of mine truthfully, I'm too tall to sit anywhere near the wheel, the only time my airbag blew, it blew all over my forearms and throat and ripped my skin up pretty nasty and I just got whiplash from the seatbelt. It's a piece of mind which is why I kept one when I swapped cocoa's airbag in with a CL-S wheel, but if I'm wearing my seat belt it wont' help me at all.

I agree with you to a point. If it's a somewhat minor accident, the airbag could do more harm than good, however in a serious accident it could mean the difference between life and death. Now I feel old.

Guess I only said something because my brother in law recently crashed his FX55 at somewhere between 65-80mph, glanced two trees and slammed into a telephone pole. He broke his femur and messed his face up bad from going through the windshield. 9 out of 12 airbags deployed, as in triggered. The police firstly called it in as a fatality, never saw a vehicle so messed up in their life and spent two days looking but never found the passenger side front tire. My point being, it just seems stupid to disable something that could save you. It made me think man you do have to take this shit seriously. Now obviously any of us would have been dead in our CL's vs. an FX55 with 12 airbags and active restraints, but they're there for a reason. Done preaching....

Oh and needless to say he bought another fx55 but also an ex35 for my sister and my niece the next week.

I wanna change to quick release cause my steering wheel is hella ugly and dirty to the max. Honestly for the safety bag issue, I don't mind not having it on the wheel. Being in 2 accidents (Cliff and head on collision) I've develop ways to maneuver in split seconds.

Honestly, I'd rather have a nice, clean steering wheel than a dirt, black, bumpy steering wheel.

i said fuck it and taped up the leather on my steering wheel with electrical tape. its holding up okay, but i need to reapply it every 6 months. i value my airbag.

i guess you wouldnt really need an airbag if you have a racing harness (like actual racing harness, no ebay shit) and some racing seats. but even then an airbag wouldnt hurt

well i always wear my seatbelt... so i dont think ill be flying thru any windshields.
another reason i dont want an airbag is because my brother was in an accident once where is airbag went off and knocked him the fuck out. he was out cold for about 5 mins. on the passenger side which was his gf.. and his friend in the back seat were all fine with absolutely no bruises, scratches or anything. the damn airbag did more damage to him than the car accident did!

another accident that i was in.. was in my 2nd gen integra. it didnt come with airbags. a lady in a Lexus Rx300 ran the red light and wiped out my entire front end (i posted some pics of it on this site) if i had airbags.. i would have been injured in some way shape or form. i actually walked away from that whole incident without a scratch.

now... say that my car got t-boned... an airbag in the steering wheel wouldnt really do shit. but when it all comes down to it... a car is only as safe as the driver.
