Quick question about stock tweeters, are these the crossovers?

is that gray thing the built-in resistor/crossver? Cuz if so, I can just retain the stock tweeter wiring in the dash coming from the Bose amp and only have to run wire from the aftermarket crossovers in the trunk to the door midranges.

Thanks

What you are looking at is a capacitor. Capacitors pass high frequencies and filter out low frequencies. That's why you see it on your tweeter. You can set it up that way but the crossover point on the tweeter will be different from the aftermarket's crossover. You'll either get a "hole" in the frequency spectrum or overlapping frequencies. If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can remove or bypass the tweeter's capacitor, then solder the wires to the tweeter, then connectlng it to your aftermarket crossover. That way, you'll have the correct crossover points between the tweeters and the mids.

thanks man

oh sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant that I have a complete new set of DLS components up front, so the Bose tweeters are gonna go. I just needed to know if those indeed were the capacitors on the tweeters themselves and that it wasn't located along the wiring somewhere, so that I can just use the existing dash wiring (spliced in the trunk from the stock bose amp to my xtant amp) for the new DLS tweeters and not have to run new wires.

thanks again!

There are no crossovers on the tweeters, they are spliced off the same channel as the door speakers. And the stock wiring is junk, you're better off running new wires

Maybe since I am done with school I will muster the motivation to run new wiring in my car since I do have a hefty 4ch. Haven't really looked at our door plugs, guessing they are good old Molex plugs? We'll see... will take pics when I do.
