If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

and the label says if the green light is not visible......the batter needs to be charged......
does that mean REPLACE THE BATTERY
or just add "water" to the battery?

Does it say mantenince free? If you drive the car regularly (IE it has plenty of time to charge and doesn't sit there for months) and it says it needs to be charged if you can't see the green, then it prob means the battery is getting old and cannot charge to full capacity any more. I say time for a new battery then.
However, if you have a huge stereo that draws gobs of current it may just be that the battery never has the chance to charge.

You can have a dead battery from leaving your lights on, w/e. You should have some other method to get the car started. I've got a battery charger that has the 125amp start capacity (used it a few times, works great, $99 unit, $45 Sams) and one of the lil portable jump starter things ($75 unit, $40 at Sams). You should always have some kind of backup regardless of why the battery is dead.
Did I mention Same (or Costco) rocks?
First off, your battery is going, not absolutely dead yet but going. Like the others have been saying, it can't hold a charge. This may be due to some dead cells. However, did your car ever die out while it was on and running? If so, that's a positive sign that your alternator is bad. But again, to find out for sure...bring your battery into an Advance Auto Parts store or Pepboys/Autozone if you must, and they'll check your battery free of charge. And I'd hook you up with a 20% discount but you're all the way hell up there. Also, while you're there have them hook up the machine to test your alternator...might as well. Anyhow, good luck.
