Question about window tinting
Hey guys,
I just got my windows tinted by a pretty reputable shop and got a warranty that covers bubbling and fading for the life of the car. The shop did a good job, but some parts of the windows have that dot matrix on the edges, and the tint hasn't adhered very well to it. Since all of your tinted windows look 100% solid, can you give me any advice?
Thanks,
-EPS

Mine doesnt look solid at the edges, but from 10 feet or more it looks good. I took it back once and they used a heat gun and pushed it down a little more.

the "dot matrix" is called the fret. The fret wouldn't take the tint on my car either, Klepto. The tint guy said the replacement glass was sub-par (I had my window smashed by thugs) and the tint wouldn't stick. I could either put black vinyl over it or color over it with a marker. From a few feet you can't really tell, though, so I left it alone. From inside the car, it still looks like ass.

I looks good from the inside, and the outside isn't so bad. I'm pretty sure I can live with it, but I just wanted to see what everyone thought. I paid $159 plus tax and minus $20 in discounts. It really does make a difference in Texas though

I've been looking into tinting also.
I've decided on metalized film and not dyed films. They have several types(quality) of metalized films. This is at LA Tint in N. VA.
The cheapest is Premier Series.
Benefits: Full Metal Film, Higher heat rejection. No color change ever. Draw Backs: Shiny Metallic Finish (looks great in many cars).
Next is Millenium Series.
Benefits: Full Metal Film, Looks like dyed film. Higher heat rejection. No color change ever.
I like the tint that I see on Accords and it looks factory. Not too dark or shiny/reflective. I'm guessing that would be like the Millenium Series huh?
