question about keys

can Honda dealership make an acura key or do i have to go to the acura dealership for it? I was looking at my keys and I have the valet key but not the master key according to the user manual. I would have to drive all the way to Charlotte to get to an acura dealership but there is a 3 different honda dealerships about 5 minutes away

Since you have a 97 and don't have the chip, you can get your key cut just about anywhere. If you get a blank off ebay, you could probably even get one cut at home depot

I was just getting keys cut at home depot last night and out of curiosity I asked if he could copy my CL key and he said yes. I also have a 97. He said it would be $2.00

yeah but since the valet key will not lock out the trunk or the compartment for the trunk in the back seat, just duplicating the key will just make another valet key, I want a master key so I can lock these things if I want to for some reason

thats what it says in the user manual, the valet key is a key you would give to like a valet and it will not lock nor unlock the trunk or compartment, you have to have the master key to be able to do those things. That way you can lock your valuables in the trunk and give them the keys and not worry about them being able to get in there

wasn't really asking nor planning on valet parking what I am asking is can Honda make a Master key because I know I can go anywhere and get a copy of my valet key made off the key I have now, but it will not lock up the trunk or compartment. I would like to be able to lock these things even if I wasn't gonna valet park the car

Dude, you think that was bad. I used to work in Long Beach at the Pike. next to the 710. the valet company was paying the city of long beach. so pretty much we could do whatever we wanted. people where blasting off on the 710 trying to do drag races n other crap. We had nice cars coming through there. I got to drive a GT2 before.

If you don't have the master key, they will most likely have to change out the ignition cylinder and door locks

I do have the code for the keys, forgot to mention that. Anyway I called Honda and they can not do it they say so i will have to go to acura with my code and they can cut the keys for me

Edit: called Acura, they said I could come with the code and my registration and license and they could make them for me

I was gonna say they should be able to do it off of your vin# and proof of ownership!
