I picked up my 98 3.0 today and on the highway on my way home I noticed that there was black smoke coming out of my exaust so I took it back to the dealership the guy told me that it had been sitting for 2 months and it was just moisture and about a 1/2 hour ago I was on the highway and it happened agian what could this be?anything serious?

I dont know for sure, but you might want to check out your muffler...there might be something wrong there, or maybe you are due for a smog check because I know that my car doesn't release any black smoke..ever. Anyways...be sure to take it back if you are not happy...or take it to another acura dealer to get another opinion. Then if they find something wrong, take it back and tell them...that is if the other dealer wont fix it for free.

dont sweat it just yet... if the car has been sitting for a while it fairly normal.. the motor is getting rid of crap sitting inside of it... the engine movement and exhaust are simply moving whatever was old out... oil, dirt, fumes etc...

if it continues down the line and if it smells like burning... Id check into an oil leak in your motor... but even my brothers new TL-S when brand new started up with grey/black smoke... then it became broken in...

give it time or runs... yuoll be fine!!!
