pulled over for some BS

Yeah i was in SanDiego Last Friday buying stuff for my b-day party on saturday. i was cruising on East H street going speed limit and i notice this cop behind me. he tails me for about 2 miles and then turns on the lights and pulls me over.
when he walked up to the window he told me he pulled me over for modified exhaust, blue lights, and no front license plate. my lights are fucking hyper white. then he tells me that my insurance expired yesterday. i didn't have the new one in the car so he wrote me up for that. then he asked me where i'm headed. and i told him that i was shopping for my Birthday party. The ass hole says "Happy Birthday", and makes me sign my ticket. now i have to go to a smog ref and i have fix it tickets up the ying yang.
having a fixed up car is almost like racial profiling. cops just fuck with you all day long.

it's san diego, you should know better

Also, you should be smart enough to not be getting an exhaust ticket.

Keep a copy of this in your car at all times!

27150.2. (b) A certificate of compliance for a vehicular exhaust system shall be issued pursuant to subdivision (a) if the vehicle complies with Sections 27150 and 27151. Exhaust systems installed on motor vehicles, other than motorcycles, with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating of less than 6,000 pounds comply with Sections 27150 and 27151 if they emit no more than 95 dbA when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J1169 May 1998.

SAE Standard J1169 on how to test your exhaust noise level:
Decibel meter is held 0.5 meters (20 inches) from the exhaust tip, and the test is done at 1/2 the engine's maximum rated RPM (redline).

Any exhaust modifications after the catalytic converter are legal as long as the exhaust noise is below 95dB. If you got a ticket for modified exhaust, have this test done by someone with a dB meter (try local car stereo shops), have the person doing the test write out the results of the test, along with the date, time, and location of the test, then sign the paper. Bring this when you appear in court. The charge will likely be dropped.

When you say he made you sign the ticket, what happens if you refuse?

I heard that if you just don't pay then after like 3 years it completely disappears. Supposedly there is like millions of dollars lost each year b/c people just don't pay. You could just go to court and refute it. Many times the case is dismissed, could be worth it.

The cop brings out his night stick and butt ends it into your nuts until you say you'll sign, or until you point in the direction of a camara catching it all...

i think, think being the key word, that if you refuse to sign your ticket they can take you into custody untill you sign or your court date comes. again this is what i think and its probably wrong.

haha, YEA RIGHT!!

if you don't pay you get a warrant out for your arrest, even for a fix it ticket. I had a close situation the Beverly Hills PD had fucked up a bunch of tickets and I had paid mine but it never went through (luckily I saved the reciept). I got pulled over one day and the cop tried to haul me in cause I had a warrant out for not paying the fix-it-ticket. I showed him the reciept and all was good, but yes you have to pay the ticket.

yeah i got pulled over the other day for 37 in a 25, unclear plates, and a stupid ass new jersey provisional drivers law(im only allowed to have 1 person in the car with me because im 17). In the end it came out to over 300 bucks in tickets. For the lisence plate, I had it in my front window.... the law says that you have to have it in plain view in the front of the vehicle... do you think I should fight it?

ps... sorry for hijacking the thread

I've been pulled over enough times, in Florida that shit doesn't work. They just make the right turn with you or pull into the gas station with you and ask "where you off to in such a hurry". If they're tailing you so they can profile you, you're going to get pulled over. BASTARDS. Every time I see a cop I give him the "Phil Hello Wave" (the official name) it's a nice regular wave followed by the FINGERS BEOTCH. :sqntfawk:

driving a hooked up car is like screaming out - "look at me, and if u're a cop, follow me for while to see if i do anything stupid. if not, write me a ticket for something else."

Yes a NY state trooper ruined my life. Well that might be a bit over dramatic. I was doing about 115mph coming back from upstate. (My friends were asses they though it be funny to leave me behind) A couple of the cars that I was following was going maybe about 120-130. He pulled my ass over and gave me a ticket for going 75 in a 55. Since I was a new driver at the time my license went bye bye. Still struggling with high insurance because of that one ticket.

in florida when you get a ticket u get points depending on the ticket how many points you get.. once u get to soo many tickets per year your license gets revoked... anyhow.. i heard a way around the point system is to send a check for a higher price than your ticket.. lets say the ticket is for 100 dollars... you send 101 on a check... they cash the check then issue you a check for 1 dollar... if you never cash this check the transaction is never completed so you do not get the points..... i have not tried this but hey give it a shot...

i have lots of freinds with completly moded cars... intakes, turbos, tints, lowered, exaust... and we have no problems with cops...unless we are caught racing...

This is wrong, it was in maxim mag. They went around to a couple of counties about this. In the article they said a lot of people do this and they keep the money. Most of them donate it or use it to buy lunch etc. hahaha it was quite funny.

the cops in florida aren't that bad. you have to be doing some crazy driving- or be stopped on the side of the road at 12 midnight dumping out pee from a bottle, to really have any problem with cops here. they don't like neons though. i had neons on my old car when i just started driving and i got a ticket. i'm almost glad i got ticketed, neons are :ghey:

they're not that bad, one night I was doing about 85 on I-95 and one of them was following me, a short time later he turned on his lights, so I started to pull over and he just passed me so I guess he just wanted me to get out of his way!

I got pulled over by a trooper because i was "driving in the left lane of the interstate preventing the flow of traffic." Note i was the only car for about a mile or so. Then i said the only thing i could think to say to dispute it..."Well i was going about 85 so i was passing everybody, nobody was keeping up with me!" I know I know, i need a little work on that. Maybe i should have added "...I was paying really close attention to the road because i was so ripped out of my mind everything was going in slow-mo. I also just finished doing 120 next to a sunfire with a hot chick in it for about 45 minutes before you pulled me over, so 85 seemed slow to me!" you state troopers in MO!

he was in an unmarked car.....i was doing 75 in the extreme left lane and he pulled up next to me and glaced at me.......he started speeding up, so i did also.....we got to like 120 for bout 3-4 miles and then he slowed down and pulled up behind and after a few seconds he flashed his lights and i was like "OH SHIT, IM FUCKED"...i pull over and he walks over and say "Where we headed in such a hurry"......i was like to work.....he says "where you work".....i work for the turnpike.......then the fucker says "lets go, ill follow you to work".....NOTE: im not working that day...
we got to my work and the trooper tells my boss what happened and my boss says "yeah he late...he was suppose to be here an hour ago..!!" i was like and at the same time
