PSPEC owners ...

I've researched good things about this short shifter and plan on purchasing it but I only want the shifter and boot. Will the OEM shift knob fit onto the PSPEC shifter without problems or will I need to purchase the PSPEC knob ?

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... Damn that's not what i wanted to hear. I prefer the stock shift knob over there's for some reason. How about the Prelude shifter, will that match up? What would be another short shifter set up that would allow me to utilize the OEM CL shift knob?

I like the look and feel of the stock knob, it matches the interior. If the stock knob and PSPEC shifter match up I would probably switch to an aftermarket knob down the line though.

Can anyone else further confirm if the stock knob would fit the PSPEC shifter ?

Stock knobs will not fit with PSPEC shifter...it needs a lock nut which stock knob do not have. Don't be cheap and buy the whole kit for best results...

It's not a matter of me being cheap. Nothing I own is cheap. Not even the females I mess with.

I really like the stock knob, its more my taste, so why would I want somethin else?

Which kit is better? The pspec or the forbidden one? The forbidden one is a hell of a lot cheaper. The pspec is 215 shipped with the boot and knob. The Forbidden one is 125-135. IMO the prelude shifter seems like the way to go???

uuhhhh, here it goes.

There is no "better" shifter. Forbidden and pspec both have top notch quality and similar throws. Forbidden has 3 adjustable setting however. Forbidded does not come with a custom boot of knob. Forbidden also uses standard honda threads so you can put just about any knob you want onto it. Prelude does not provide the throws forbidden and pspec offer. Both aftermarket shifters are excellent. Forbidden requires some small parts to work smoothly ( the bushing/shrowd ). Pspec includes these small little inexpensive parts. The pspec price is greatly inflated to make profits. The forbidden the same, but can be produced on a much larger scale, thats why there availiable. YOU CANNOT rethread the Pspec shifter !! There isnt enough material to get a thread out of it for other knobs, so dont even try. For the money, i recommend forbidden with a type r knob ( 15 bucks )

Where can you get those small inexpensive parts? Acura stealership? The only thing that i dont like about the pspec is that you have to use their knob..Thats ..
Does anyone have any pics of the forbidden shifter installed?

I even thought about cutting a section out of my OEM one then welding the two pieces together. Would that work?

Yeah, what Swerv said. I'm not a big fan of the PSPEC knob. As far as the length of the Forbidden shifter, how low dose it sit compared to the prelude and PSPEC shifter??

arg.......

OK, cut and welding will NOT WORK !!! its never going to be strong enough using conventional home bought welders. YOULL snap that shit of shifting hard.( ive tried it using a realy good welder and ( professional welds ) It doest hold. Forbidden is 1 inch shorter than a lude shifter, You can get these "small" parts from any acura store online or the stealership do a search !! there are diagrams online too so dont be lazy like i am.

if you email 4bidden, he'll provide you with the part numbers you need from a honda dealership

two parts...costed me about $6

you NEED these parts for the shifter to work...they weren't designed for accords/cl's

www.pspectuning.com i think. and FYI.... the OEM knob WILL FIT with a non pspec boot. U can only use the Pspec knob with the pspec boot. The OEM knob screws on Perfectly.

Im using my stock shift knob right now with my pspec... you have to saw off the clips at the bottom of it, but other than that it screws right on and works perfectly with the pspec boot. It looks real clean too

Hmm, I guess the PSPEC wasn't for me... I ended up with the Forbidden SS. It was cheaper and is adjustable.

Do a custom threading and put your stock shift knob on there.

Good luck.

I have the stock knob and boot on there and it is definitely lower. The shifts are smooth and quick. Forbidden SS that is.

PSPEC or forbidden.. a shortshifter will increase the fun factor of driving your car tenfold...

I myself went with pspec.. and Im smiling every minute I drive because of it.

I still find myself admiring the shift knob sometimes, as well as going through each gear just to see how fast I can go through them with this thing.

I think I'm gonna have to pick up a short shifter once I finish up school in a month. Pspec seems like the best option, even though it's pretty damn expensive. How much do the Forbidden shifters go for, and how much more difficult is the install?
