Pros-Cons

What are the pros and cons between the 2.2-2.3 vs the 3.0(unmodded)? Like curb weight, power to weight ratio, 0-60, 1/4, etc...

Some of my friends tell me that the 2.2-2.3 is faster than the 3.0, is that true?

I witnessed a 2.2 with mods better my ET at Capital Raceway (by a tenth of a second) several weeks ago. So it's possible. But then again, I'm running with 18s, and didn't have my passenger seat removed (amongst other possible weight reduction in said 2.2)!

Usually, My 1/4 miles times have been better than all 2.2/2.3s that have raced the same day.

Naturally at 3.0 stock will get to a certain speed faster than the 2.2-2.3 stock motor, but top end, they both stop around 125-130mph.

It all depends what you want. If you want stick, you have no choice except a 2.2/2.3. The 3.0 is faster from the factory. Its weight might be slightly higher, but it's only a marginal difference.

According to "MSN Carpoint", the 3.0 weighs 3219 lbs.

2.2 Auto weighs 3064 lbs.

2.2 5-speed weighs 3009 lbs.

3.0 vs 2.2 [They have the auto and manual weights listed in the wrong columns, but I've seen these weights published elsewhere.]

EDIT: I also found these exact weights published in the orginal Acura CL brochure from '97.

what r u really asking? stock the 3.0 auto is faster then any 2.2 or 2.3. of course a modded 5 speed 2.2 or 2.3 can take a stock 3.0 from 0 - 60 but thats not rocket science. u mod the 3.o and then its faster. and on the highway the 3.0 can hit over 130 way before the 2.2 or 2.3. if u can evn get ur I4 up there. the 3.o rides much smoother but then its a v6 so thats not rocket science either.

bottom line u can mod ur 2.2 or 2.3 and it will take a 3.o, but as soon as that 3.o is modded itself forget it

really the greatest thing about the 2.2 or 2.3 cl is that its much much much easier to swap the h22 prelude engine into for the future.

0.1 Liters!

Besides that, the 1997 2.2 has a different grill than the 1998/1999 2.3; a different front console; different steering wheel; different style wheels; different front brake rotors and other cosmetic changes that went along with the '97 CL (based on the '94-'97 Accord interior) change to the '98/'99 CL (based on the '98-'99 Accord interior).
