I might do the same except with a 99 convertible M3. It was too much fun.

I was looking at a 98 BMW M3 mildly modified, but , when I saw the 2004 WRX STi 300 HP from a flat 4cyl and all wheel drive I was like, WHOA.....GOT TO HAVE IT....

I live in FL so for 30gs i would get a rx-8 or G35, The wrx is bad ass for the money and you get all wheel drive which is prefferable to rear wheel drive up north. Its really up to you, just make sure you buy the one that makes YOU happy.

I'm thinking about the exact same thing. Wierd how many people are looking to jump ship too. RX-8 and G35C are still too slow, and not enough modding potential. e46 M3 would be boobie!

Me too, G35 is off the wall for the price!

You guys are crazy. $32,000 for a 6 speed luxury coupe is a great price. And just possibly wait for the AWD model coming out in 2004. The M3 and the E46 are fuckin' awesome rides but they're in a price range of it's own. I would rather get the G over a Suburu because you always need some show with go and I don't think anything compliments that more that a Black G35C. I'm not saying the STi looks that bad but it's just not my cup of tea.

And soon the G will have as many aftermarket parts and the 350Z. Not to mention it's own line of R-SPEC mods.

Just imagine 300+ lbs. of torque being forced to the wheels all at once b/c of high boost/power.....but then since it's an AWD setup, instead of the tires burning rubber, the drivetrain is absorbing the power and heat since the WRX doesn't let you spin the wheels easily......if the power isnt all getting to the ground, it's going somewhere...and guess where??....yeah the expensive parts on the car!

STI, much better than a CL. IMO, you gotta keep performance on a leash though, so i woud prob go with a G35C. RX8 looks just like the new Miatas about to drop, dissapointment. One of my friends has a 02 M3 and other has a 350z. The M3 would be too fast for me, though it is amazing. The 350 is a great mix of riding on rails and speed. But the G35c looks better, so that gets my PLUS, you can fit 2 hos in the back

I definitely still have my eye on the e46 M3!!!!

It's in a class by itself. Sure there are others that are better priced; sure there are others that are faster; but for me, there's nothing like an M3!

Having said all of that: I Love My CL!!!!

Don't hold your breath waiting for an AWD G35 Coupe. I seriously doubt its gonna happen any time soon, if at all.

Infiniti will prolly do what BMW does-- offer AWD on the sedan only, not the coupe (with respect to the 3 series)

I've been thinking about doing the same. The CL has been a great daily driver for me, just not fun enough for day to day combat w/ the road. I'm gonna wait to drive the STI and see what I think. I just keep changing my mind from what I want. It'll probally be a truck though (see what I mean, i can't make up my mind )

Supercharger should be released at the end of the month for the G35 and the Greddy tt kit that'll be out ASAP will also fit, and for only 3K!!!!

There is TONS of modding potential in the G35C. The initial cost will be more. But you are right, the WRX will be a synch to mod

Did you see the specs for the greddy turbo charger? I think they only made low 300s on the VQ.

I'm looking to make mid 400s reliably with my next car.

If you want a race car get an sti, if you want a pimp car get a g35. Also, does anyone know how much it would cost to insure those cars?

it was around 330 to the wheels on 4.5 - 5lbs of boost from what I remember. At 6 lbs that would easily be 400 to the wheels very reliably.

There's a reason why greddy didn't push it to 6 psi. If they could make those figures reliably they would have set it at that instead.

Plus 1 more lb of boost will not get you 70 HP to the wheels.

just went to the subaru dealer today and the reg sedans are now stickered at $26k.. now if im not mistaken the base model z's are the same.. STI's arent available yet and the sales guy said dont hold your breath.. checked out the new mistushitti evo too... now that is some amazing shit (271hp inline 4 from factory) but the fucken rice of it all just throws itself at you and wont let go...

rethinkin boostin my car.. with all these turbocharged, warranteed, factory cars coming out.. who the hell wants all the headaches going from na to turbo..

new engine is a definite tho.. can sell it for more

my opinion
get a subie for speed, get a 350/g35 for looks..

6 psi is more then reliable for the VQ motor, esp. if you compare what kind of boost people are putting down w/ the old VQ motors. Greddy's turbo kits have always been conservative on the boost side. Also though, greddy says they are hitting mid to high 12's w/ the car at the low boost!

And 1 lb will easily get you 30-40 on a tt setup ( may of exagerated on the 70 part ) But still if you rate that at the fly wheel instead of the wheels that's something around 420 or so HP. It also really depends on what octane you are using.

What do you mean the sales guy said don't hold your breath? Is he trying to tell you they aren't comming? If so he was definately trying to hose you into settling for the base WRX.

Also, went to a dealer last weekend and the WRX was still stickerd at a little under 25K. But invoice is around 22.5 I belive.

An STI is real fast, unless your gonna take it to the track, what are you going to street race in that speed class? Anyone can drive fast in a straight line, but cornering is where a race is decided, and those are at tracks. IMO, lots of power for the street, and what does street racing prove? Yeah you have a faster car, but it doesn't show any driving skills except shifting. Track racing, that shows who the better driver is. Just my thoughts, i am not a big street racer, too many bads, not enough goods come from it.....

@ one Subaru dealer in Tampa, they have 3 new WRX STis. All are sold already and they said the next 25 or so that come in are sold too. They are selling the 2003 regular WRXs for 21k.

Hey, got rice, my stats were wrong

in this week autoweek they drove the Greddy 350

at 5.6 lbs it's making 345 hp to the wheels. It says the boost is pretty conservative. Also, says it runs under 13 at about 106. But i've heard it's gone faster.

It's fairly well known that there will be an AWD G35 coming soon.

But the smart money says only on the sedan.

G35 Coupe will remain rear wheel drive only.

it keeps getting pushed back.. supposed to be in early april.. wont expect it until late june.. possible late july..
BTW - why wouldnt he want me to buy a $32k car instead of a $25k car...?

just found out thats with a $599 dealer charge! <-wtf..
and a $595 destination..

solution: talked to my sis-in-law(subaru employee) found another dealer.. ordered my 2004 java black wrx @ cost($21,560).. gonna spend extra dough on mods.. this might be my last post..
