Possible change in plans. H23 swap instead of shaved moldings

so my shop has had a prelude sitting around for a while and i was like hey wtf is that car still here for. they said guy must have kept the insurance $$$ and abandoned it. They had it for 2 years now. Minor frotn end damage like my cl. im thinking fix it up, swap my f22 into it and swap its h23 into my cl. ill prob pick it up for $1000. runs great! but ill still check it out. the owner of he shop is like family so he wouldn't steer me wrong. plus they repaint it for fo cheap.

hopefully i can take the award for first h23 cl on the board and add it to first xenon projector cl.

i cannot wait until spring. i want that car!

fyi
h23= 2.3L DOHC non-VTEC 160 hp and 157 lbs tq

vs f22b1 SOHHC VTEC 145hp 147 tq

all my mods on the h23 would net better gains, plus the h23 are known to love boost

I think he should do it....VXCL isnt all about speed, and they would make better gains he is right.

maybe later he can swap out a VTEC head and put in the VTEC solenoids and a new computer if he wanted VTEC back........all in all he would have a slightly larger prelude engine from the H22....

But if the price is right..............

I dont know VXCL, doesnt sound like a good idea to me. First off the motor isnt worth a 1000 bucks running or not. Second, if your state requires smog, that H23 is obd1. Third, OH MY GOD, why would you not want Vtec! It's going to cost you just as much to boost it as an H22. H23's have a shitty bottom end so your work is cut out for you. To me, not worth it. H22 Vtec bro, you will thank yourself later.

mark i get the whole car. just reselling it or parting it out i would make out good. i would offer $500 for it. i may just do that.

the h23 is always overlooked by everyone. all i want is to run 14s and a 0-60 in the 5s. i will look into it more but theres no way that engine is more of a dog down low then my f22b1. ill take the car for drive around the block when i get a chance.

again i may just resell it or part it out for $$$$. i would like a newer prelude front clip, but this is just sitting there with nothin wrong with iit.

Shit, if you get the whole car thats a good deal wether you use the motor or not. If you part it out, hook me up with the front calipers. I need a set badly. The truth is the H23 is overlooked because it's a junky motor and it take too much money to get any potential out of it. I'll tell you what if you want something different, try scooping up an F20B motor out of the 98-2002 SIR-T Accords. JDM Honda parts has one for $3000, motor, lsd tranny, and ecu. Thats a steal for that unit. 200hp 2.0 liter 11:1 comp. DOHC Vtec. Blue valve cover. I heard those motors are fuckin bad. Just a suggestion though.

yo bro that is a great find...swap that bitch....
vtec is OVER RATED!!!
all you need to do is get some aggresive cams from crower, crane or weber

if i had it to do all over again i would have went with the h23
no vtec means more torque from the get go..not like the h22 where you need vtec to make power = power @5500

Vtec is bomb for N/A motors. If you do the h23, deffinately boost it and use your CL tranny.

I dont agree, my H22 swap has good power before vtec, I was dead even with a Mazda Speed before vtec, once it poped he was toast.

did you say mazda speed.lol...them shits are slow my girls civic (ex auto 55 shot) will walk on them...
what i am saying is the the h22 as well as any other vtec motor makes its torque and power later in the power band....
but with an h23 you dont have vtec so you pretty much have the torque and power early in the power band...
you can make an h23 an all motor beast...cams make a world of a difference

H22 or H23 can be an all moto beast if you spend the money on it. VXCL are you planning to build or just a couple of bolt ons?
