Poor mans HID READ!!!

for those of u who dont know this is a very easy mod
9006 -> 9005 conversion. basically u modify a 9005 bulb (high beam) which is usually 65 watt to be used in ur 9006 low beam which is usually 55 watt. i did it to my stock 9005 bulb and it is brighter and whiter then my piaas 9006. if everything works out ill be modifying my piaa 9005 bulbs to use as low beam. its a free mod and will make lots more light. heres a nice site to expain how to do it exactly.

the difference is not just in the wattage, but the coating on the bulb itself. if you notice the high beam bulbs do not have that black coating on the tip that the low beams have, which makes the beam less bright.

lol that is a very good idea. so in other words, you exchanged the high and low beam bulbs? or did you just use 4 high beam lights for everything? my low beams are not very bright, so this would be a good idea. thanks!

Actually, I used to have 9005 Piaa bulb in my low beam. Piaa made the mod. already onto the bulb and they come with two different sizes elastic rings for use with 9005 or 9006.
It sold all around town here.
And yes, they are much brighter as they are 65W-->130W...

You can't piss anyone off by doing that because hasn't anyone noticed that huge silver "cap" that goes in front of the low beam? That blocks the light coming from the front of the bulb too.

u wont piss off anytraffic as long as they arent aimned to high. i didnt adjust mine from how i had them set with the 9006 bulbs. not one car out of 34 that i passed flashed me. and i can see a shit load better. not to mention they are just cheap ass 9005 philips bulbs. im going to modify my piaa superwhite 9005 bulb next cuz it is a nicer shade of white. im testing for now. so far its the cheapest and most effective lighting i have experienced

I got a set of 4 xenon filled bulbs and I noticed that although the high beams are brighter, the low beams are whiter/bluer (less yellow). I might try this out though. I do have some phillips bulbs that i had before my xenon-filled ones. If i fuck them up, oh well

Nah i have run 80 watts and no problems. I know other member have 80s as well and there are a lot of accord running over 80. Once in a great while you will see melted harnesses though

Sorry, I throw the box away but if I remember correctly, they are the PIAA Plasma FX series one that gives you the purple tint... They comes with 2 set of rings to fit for 9005/9006. And the box has a label that said HB3/HB4. They cost me $160CDN two years ago.... should be cheaper now... =O)
My friend said they have it for the xtreme white series as well... that should give you brighter output but not as close to HID as the plasma... good luck...

just pulled my wisdom teeth today... pain as hell...

Well I modified a pair of my xenon filled 9005s and i'll put them in tonight to see how they look. I thought about doing this before but didn't know if it would work. Takes some time when all you have is a butter knife and some sandpaper
