Please help :( desperate

well ok, i bought Eibach pro-kit springs thru my "friend" who owns a body-tuning shop. I knew that he overcharged me on the springs ($249) so i figured that he'd install them....but he goes off and tells me that he has to charge me for install (approx $60), so i said screw it and went home.....i don't consider him a friend anymore if any of you ask

but anyway....i was wondering if there were specific instructions somewhere about how to remove/replace the springs at home....i have a hydraulic lifting thing and the ability to take off the wheel and such....i just need to know how to change the spring, thanks!

um actually, is $250 being overcharged?? I dont know that much about Eibach springs and regardless, 60 bucks to install your is a steal...any shop here in jax would charge at least $120.

and i helped with the install of my coilovers and trust me...it is a bitch to do...pay the 60 bucks!

actually, that's all a pretty good deal. I've known people who have paid 300-400$ for them and people pay up to 200$ for installation. The prokit is one of the most expensive out there.

Also, it's not hard to do, I could do it myself w/ no problem, but I have a broke friend who will swap out springs for me for anywhwere from 30-50$ and I have him do it everytime. He needs the money, I don't feel like wasting my time

60$ is fair if he'll still do it.

wait, you sound like you don't really know what you are doing, I'd definately have him do it. I don't recommend it if you don't have much experience.

$249 is about the average rate for pro-kits at a shop. Of course ebay is cheaper but you can't compare prices to ebay and prices at a shop.

$60 is definitely worth it if you don't know that much about suspensions. And especially if you have a bolt freeze up on you. Most shops charge $100+. Some places even $150. I hope you didn't burn any bridges with this guy, take him up on that $60.

Should have gotten a bigger drop IMO.

those are actually not bad deals, and $60 to install is pretty damn good when you actually think about it for al that labor, $15 each side, hella good

The combined costs ($249 + $60) is DEFINITELY worth it.

All it takes is for one of your rear lower shock mounting bolts to break, and your "do-it-your-self" costs will increase (drill bits, sawz-all, torch, etc.). Plus the extra time needed when one of these bolts breaks is outrageous!

However, if everything goes smoothly, you're still looking at several hours of somewhat intense labor.

$309 for a complete install is not bad!

Here's a great thread if you do it yourself: http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...ng+compressors

After being involved in 4 CL drops (plus, I did mine twice in one week), I'd gladly pay to have mine done next time!

Dude, I don't know but i've never laughed so hard in my life. Since when does age have anything to do w/ how far you can drive? It's not like you are 10 and can't ride your bike out of the neighborhood

thanks man....lol CLpower....i dunno i just randomly came up with that excuse =P

but yea....the thing is that the install for $60 was gonna be in a parking lot in front of his store....he doesn't have an actual garage...so i was kinda scared....also if he breaks something...i dunno if i'll be liable or he will...maybe when i go i'll make him sign something to say that he's liable if he breaks something.

My recomendation is to pull your spring/shocks, take em to a place that has a spring compressor (a good floor standing one) and pay them 5 bucks a piece to swap te springs. Takes 10 minutes.

Are you sure it's not $60/wheel? $249 is not too much for Eibachs either. If you want to try doing it yourself you're in luck. The double wishbone suspension is easier than a MacPherson strut suspension. You might want to buy a Haynes manual for your car or for an Accord of the same model year. These manuals are available at auto parts stores and they are very helpful.

It really wasnt too hard. I had a garage break the back lower bolts loose and then i did the install and it was the first i had ever done so it can be done by the amateur Just take your time and be careful and you will be fine. Hopefully the link dust posted will help you as well

Edit - I had forgotten about this but when i made that how to i put the quotes i received for the install at the bottom of the post Check them out they are a heck of a lot more then 60 bucks

dan, seriously, go have the guy do it. You don't want the headache. You sound like you haven't done much mechanical work on a car, this isn't something you want to jump into never doing before, it will take you FOREVER if you can even finish it.

Are you talking about if a bolt freezes on you?

The bolts aren't too expensive. Maybe $4-5. To get the bolt out, you're going to need to drill it out. You will go through several drill bits to do this.

actually, you can have any amount and you don't get jail time until your 3rd offense in NV if you are over 21. If you are under it's a felony but is usually dropped down to a misdemenor. Also it's most likely you'll recieve probation instead of jail time for your first 2 offenses.
