Please explain suspension

Hey everybody I just realized something Ive spent the last year and a half teching my self every aspect of the engine, exhaust, and ignition system that I overlooked a very important part, the suspension. I have a good idea how a suspension works having helped a friend build his Legends race car in charlotte, but Im completly unaware of what coil overs or ground control arre, or how to adjust them.

To give you some idea of what I know. Ive used equipment to adjust shocks and compress springs and make the assembly to bolt onto the car, but I was never concered with this and didnt bother to learn the names or what the hell I was really doing.
I know where the suspension bolts into the car in the trunk and under the hood. 32

So now my ignorance haunts me and I need to know please help with any ideas of how it works. Either send me a personal message or just respond

Ground contol is a company that makes coilovers. Coilovers are basically springs that come with a perch(sp?) so you can adjust the height of your car. I personally would only get a good set of coilovers that came with the struts. They are very expensive though so I went ahead and just bought a set of springs. I don't plan on adjusting anything anyway. If you have the money you might as well get a set of nice coilovers. I like the H&R's but there are others also. Hope this helps.

suspension works

I'm not sure if Acura uses the same terms for the parts-but here goes anyway. in the rear you have a trailing arm running from a mounting point under the rear seat. it pivots at the front to allow up and down movement (there is also a "trailing arm" coming from the center out to the rear wheels) the strut/spring assembly of course both supports the car as well as resists up and down movement. The front is a little more complicated because of the necessary steering gear, but is basically the same. the "tie rods" connect the steering box to the spindles (where the brakes/wheels attach), and push or pull the spindle/wheel to enable steering. A sway bar, or more correctly an anti-sway bar is a thick bar connecting both spindles to the vehicles frame in an attempt to stop the car from leaning going around corners (like your grandmas station wagon). There are also terms used for describing the actual wheel and tires angle and direction, like toe-in or toe-out,camber, or caster. If you want to know about these terms (or a better explanation of the above) just post again, and I'll really bore the shite outta you!
