Pic of Shift Rod



Ok so part 19 is the shift rod, it is what needs to be cut on my car, I figure I need to do about a 4 inch cut, anyone know the total length of this part if youve cut it before how much im working with

pull it out and take a look not to hard to take out I would assume... but I got stick. on the 2.3 looks similar in the "shift linkage??"

i did not cut mine and mine sits lower than most auto's

look into the Razo Sport Pump Shifter

not button, just push down on the shifter and put into gear

Well, if you were to cut it at the point where the red lines are, you would have to cut both the inside rod, AND the casing rod that the shift knob screws into. the problems this will cause that you will have to fix are 1.) the inner rod will have to be rethreaded so the angled tip can screw back onto it (BLUE CIRCLE ), and 2.) you will have to redrill, and probably rethread the holes for screwing in the shift knob again (RED CIRCLE)

also, make sure you don't lose that spring at the bottom of the shift rod, that would make it so you would shift into any gear at any time, and that would be BAD.

oh yeah, and one more thing... wheree the hell did you get that diagram? I've seen all kinds of diagrams on this site, adn don't know where I could get such helpful information. Somebody fill me in.

OK well the screw holes on the outer casing are no longer being used, so that I am not worried about threading. I am wondering if I can do without the angled screw thing on the top and simply just cut the rod. I mean I dont have the tools to do a thread job, so im wondering if it would work without that piece
