PIAA Platinum Super White life expectancy?

I need to replace the 9006 low beam bulbs. Although I want to replace the factory bulbs with better performing bulbs, I do not want bulbs with an artificial blue tint and become an HID wannabe. That leaves out the PIAA Extremes because they use a dichroic filter to filter out perfectly good yellow wavelengths. The PIAA Platinum Super Whites seem to be a good solution but I would like to find out what kind of life expectancy to expect. I do a lot of driving at night to or from work so reliability is extremely important.

Since they are rated at the same electrical wattage as the original bulbs but put out more light energy, I have to assume that they run a little cooler. Is this indeed so? I spoke to PIAA and they said absolutely positively they run hotter but this is not logical. The total energy entering the bulb is 51 Watts. This energy is converted into light and heat. If there is more light then there has to be less heat. Since PIAA was so adamant about them being hotter, I am concerned that there is something misleading here.

Any help would be appreciated.

I ran these lights for quite a while. I bought them in October of 2000 and just replaced them last week. I ran a total of 37000+ miles before I went into cyclops mode. I highly recommend them, and also recommend keeping your OEM bulbs in the car as a spare just in case your car decides to ride Cyclops. Most cops won't write you a ticket if you can change them on the spot in a few minutes.
