Phat tires...

I've got a '97 CL3.0...and I'm looking into getting some tires and wheels. 18" wheels of course, but what about the tires? Can I go 225-40-18 without the tires sticking out of the wheel-well? Any suggestions on wheel and tire size combos are welcomed too...

Hi Hi,
Did U lower your car ?? I lowered my car with the Eibach Pro kit, and I'm running 235/40/17 on mine. Still got 2 & half fingers to go before hitting the wheel walls. Too bad ... V6 can't be lowered as much as the 4 cyclinders can. But if your area is suitable for 18' wheels, then go for it.

hey Shadee,

I'm getting my tire/wheel package today. I ordered from Victoiria tire and they guarenteed me that 18's with 225/40 tires would fit. My car is lowered about 2 inches, I'll let you know how they work out.

Hey VTEChump,

Went to Wheel Warehouse today..."like a little kid in a candy store." Let me know how your wheel and tire combo works out. I'm thinking about going with Intrax springs too (1.7" drop). Do you think we'll get tire rub???

hey Shadee

I've had my springs now for a couple of weeks, and they have sagged to well past 2 inch drop. I'm afraid to put my wheels on (225/40/18, 18x7.5 45mm offset) because if they rub I probably won't be able to return them.

The springs are dope though, so far the ride is almost like stock even with stock shocks. The only problem is they sag.

Yeah, I just put them on tonight. Wow there is not much room in the front. And yes they do stick out further then factory, but not by much. I drove it around this pothole infested city and didn't rub once. I'm am definetly goin to hollow out the fender wells a little bit though.

VTEChump,

Sounds like you've got yourself a nice ride. Thanks for letting me know the 411 on the suspension, wheels, and tires. I'm shooting for end of May for my suspension...July for the wheels and tires. I'll let you know it works out. Thanks again!
