Painting Trim

I want to paint the chrome trim around my windows black but don't know the right way to do it. I attempted to paint the trim on my old car (94 legend) but ended up with a lot of peeling.

What is the right way to do it and what kind of paint do i use?

Also is there a way to remove it so i don't have to worry about over spray?

Most people leave the trim on, because once you bend the clips holding the trim down, it's almost impossible to get it back on correctly. To paint on the car, you would want to mask and tape off EVERYTHING around it. You will want to sand down the chrome covering and scuff up the trim so the paint sticks to it, also make sure to prime before painting

I also used a peice of wood cut the same width as my trim and used DA paper that is sticky on the back and rapped it around the peice of wood easier on the fingers
