Painting Calps
Painting Calps
OK I got a ? for you... I bought my caliper paint and have been waiting and waiting for warm weather and FINNALY it is here. How do I go about taking my caliper off? and what else do I need to do besides sanding and using a brake cleaner?
thanks
thanks
I didnt even take the caliper off when I did mine and it turned out good. It sounds like you have everything you need. I didnt buy the kit, I just went to wal-mart and got some high temp spray paint. I used engine cleaner to clean them. I sprayed the paint on a piece of cardboard and painted it on with a brush. Turned out really well. Good luck
if you want to take them off just jack up the car and there should be two blots on the back side of the calp. but make sure you have a c clamp just in case your cylinder comes out a little then you wont be able to get the brakes back on. you should be alright though dont think they should do that.
most important!!!
make sure the area is clean
the first time i did mine, i didn't clean it real well and the paint looked like crap
so i had to take the whole thing off and wire brush and acetone it, now it looks good
have fun

Using the brakes helps them cure (due to the high temperature). It's best to wait at least an hour, so that they are dry to the touch (and so that dirt doesn't stick to them), before driving.
Good Luck!
