Paint Job from Macco?

Anyone deal with Macco? Can they do a decent job for the money? I've always been under the impression that Macco sucks but when a friend sugguested that I should spend about $600 on a paint job from Macco, they'll even take out the small dents etc...I started thinking, Macco? can they do a decent job? I've got a White 97 3.0 and the skirts/lip are black (gay) and the bumpers needs to be repainted. What are your thoughts?

Go to a real body shop. You'd be better off with a can of spray paint. Maaco is so cheap for a reason. Just like the guys in town that advertise a "polycristalline" paint job for only 149.

my mustang before we paitned it, the original owner beus us had a macco paint job, it was shittyy, over spray, chipping, rusting and more shit paint

it was not worth the money they spent

invest in a real paint job, like 2-3g for a stock full paint job

just say no, to macco

I've seen about 2 cars from the local macco , One it didn't look like they bothered to sand anywhere they would have to bend down, another they painted the metal flat black trim, the body color (too lazy to mask?).

Uh, Oh, Sounds like Macco!

Deffinately go to a REAL bodyshop. I've had to do 2 completes for people who had taken their cars there, and a year later it looked like it aged 10 years. Paint was flat, NO edge sanding (paint peeling at edges), NO trim removal (plain ol' lazy), they didn't even take out the friggen head/tail lights, or remove the bumpers.

Well I Think Diffrently About Maaco - I Had A Good Experience With Maaco - And So Did My Boyfriend - I Have A 97 Cl Which They Painted The Front Bumper - The Right Door And The Right Fender - And It Came Out Nice They Didnt Use No Cheap Paint - And As For My Boyfriends Car They Painted The Whole Car And They Did A Good Jod - And Besides They Give You About 2 Years Of Warranty So If Anything You Take It Back

I had macco do a job for me on my younger brother's old silver dodge daytona. The car came out looking a lot better than it did before, which may not be saying much. I think it was about $400, it was a long time ago. But for the money, I was happy with the results. Now, would I get that job on my CL, hell no.

Macco paint job for an 88 dodge daytona

well my impression of Macco wasn't that good to begin with and with all these guys confirming my opinion I don't think I'll want to risk my CL. But I like your idea of not paying them if they suck

Yeah dont go to Macco, my best friend has his 1g eclipse painted there I mean the first couple of months we where like damn macco actually did a damn good job, but then it just started going down hill from there. So from my personal view like others have said you get what you pay for.

How long has it been since the work was done?

My biggest problem with Macco is with the quality of their materials. With a complete at our shop, the materials alone (paint, clear, primer, and sealer...etc.) would be in the neighbourhood of $800-1000. Our manufacturer can back a lifetime warranty against fading, cracking, peeling.... Macco can offer cheap prices because they use cheap paint, and questionable<fast> work. and only 2 years warranty.

Quality>Quantity

hey all... i was just going to say.. macco sucks ass as far as prep work goes. I used to buy and sell cars and i just did all the prep work myself before i took them in there completely stripped (i pulled everything you could pull off sanded primed where it needed to be primed) i got like the 600 buck job and then put it all back together and honestly I never had a problem with their stuff. Of course I only kept the cars like a month after that but still they looked bad ass and I saw one of the cars a couple years later and apart from some fading... looked fine to me. And that was probably only cuz the person didnt take care of it at all.

I went to maaco couple years back when i had my 94 legend coupe, the car was pearl and I wanted to change the color and I asked the manager if they were gonna prep the car by sanding it and all that good stuff, that fruit lover said "naw, we'll just paint right over it", thats one lucky mother fucker I was gonna put his dental plan into effect by kicking his teeth in.
