P0141 code ... reset has cleared, but?

Hi, all.

On my wife's 1997 Acura 2.2CL, I just got a CEL on and the following code on a reader borrowed from Autozone:

P0141. O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction. Bank 1, Sensor 2.

Cleared it, and it has not recurred in 20 minutes of driving. But, given that this is a 9+ year old car, there is probably something broken that I do need to get to soon enough anyway.

Can someone give me pointers on where to look and debug and fix/replace whatever needs fixing? I am a newbie when it comes to cars, but am willing to try and fix it myself. Or, would you all recommend that I take this to a dealer or mechanic?

If you want to do that type of diagnostics, you need a Helm's manual. It has all of the propper ohm and Voltages expected by each component in that circuit.

Otherwise, take it to the shop, they will know what to look for...

In order for the ECU to get a proper reading of your sensors you will need to drive the car for 100 miles. Have fun.

Ah! I did not know that. I'll go for a long drive this weekend and see what happens then.

Thanks!

Where can I get hold of one of these manuals?

Probably safer for me to do that, I guess ... sounds like a lot of debugging to do. I will look at the manual first and then decide.

Thanks!
