optima batteries

does anyone know what kind of optima battery we use? i went to auto zone and they dont have one listed but i had them look up a 98 accord 3.0. and since its the same motor, the one for it should work right?

it has nothin to do with the motor. just the room in your car that you can fit a battery into. just measuer your battery and get one the similar size with same top posts or both top and side posts. you will have to modify the battery tie down rods becuase the optima battery is much shorter. not a big deal. get a yellow or blue top they are the same deep cycle. the blue has extra marine threaded posts which are great for attaching accesories!

Red top: cranking only, more cranking amps than Yellow or Blue, also cheapest
Yellow top: deep cyle, can run equipment longer while car is off
Blue top: same thing as Yellow top, but for marine applications - extra set of accessory posts *might be odd size*

Unlike say - a diesel truck, our car doen't need a huge about of cranking amps, so you should be fine with any of them.

red top is not deep cycle but are great starter batteries. my red top had 830cca!!! thats more then the batt in my 5.7 V8 gmc. it started my little 2.2 in a split sec. the yellow and blue are about 700cca. more then we need plus they are deep cycle. i can leave my lights on and flashers for hours when im illegally parked.

no, but we own a company that basically headed all deep cycle technology, etc. Created the first electric golf cart, etc.

optima is one of our main competitors. Only difference is we've been around since 1925

I have two yellow tops right now in my 98 3.0 CL. One under the hood and one in the back with an isolator in between. I have no problems charging the two batteries with my 140 amp alternator. I would recommend getting a red top for under the hood. It's a waste of money putting a yellow top in as your starter battery. As a side note, our factory alternator can charge two yellow tops with no problem.

ANY OPTIMA WILL FIT IN OUR CAR. IF YOU JUST WANT IT TO START YOUR CAR THEN GET A RED TOP BUT IF YOU ARE LIKE ME RUNNING 3000 WATTS OF STAREO CRAP AND TO AIR COMPRESSORS FOR MY AIR THEN GO A YELLOW OR A BLUE TOP AND IF YOU ARE RUNNING A LOT OF STUFF THAN YOU SHOULD GET A STRONGER ALTENATOR. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU ARE RUNNING TO MUCH STUFF IS THE BATTERY WILL DIE FASTER THAN THE ALTENATOR CAN CHARGE IT.

How much are Yellows or blues?? (my car seems to start fine...but im worried about being able to run my applications for long times with the car off)

I have 2 12" subs with a 500W amp....a 7" motorised TV and DVD and Then Now i'll have HIDS....(plus all the OEM stuff)

Should i be worried about draining the battery? Sometimes i sit and watch DVD's in my car and i turn the car off and i try to remember to start the car back up every 30min to recharge the battery....should i even worry? I was thinkin about gettin a yellow top or blue top so it would last longer while my cars off...

the reason its only 500 CCA is cause of the reserve....if im not mistaken....but the red will start with no problem....i dont think you need that many CCA..i live in texas so its really not cold hear that often...

anybody seen the battery warmer blankets? i know some come stock..would that help out? to keep the CCA low....
