opinion needed on exhaust

Hey,
I was planning on getting a tanabe racing medalion or HKS hi-power for my 99 cl, but it is pretty expensive and hard to find.
When I was searching for an exhaust on ebay, I found this.

What do you guys think about this?
Does anyone have one of these?
If so, how's the sound? Is it loud and cheap sound? any performance gain?
thanks in advance.

I'd go with a greddy sp if you got a 3.0.

You get what you pay for. And it might help if you tell us what brand that is instead of just a picture. And also the model you have. In general, I think the 4 cylinders sound farty with exhaust.

If you have a 2.2/2.3, the gains are very very minimal.

I have used racing medalion 3 years ago on my civic. It was pretty loud but not cheappy high peaching noise and I was happy with it.
so, what ya think about that tsudo exhaust? It is only $195 plus SH for full catback.

I don't want to buy an universal and get it welded, which will get hole or get rusted soon. Don't you think?

hey... look at my www ... get a magnaflow muffler with custom 2.25" mandrel bent piping with a magnaflow high performance resonator. Should run you just under 300 depending on where you go.

you see the piping in the pic you posted in the first post? well that is the piping that you have to get custom made... if you take it to a repitable muffler shop they can make you custom piping to fit your CL and it can be any diameter you want it... and you can attach any muffler you want... I don't have a picture of the piping because it is under the car and I didn't want to get on my back on my dirt driveway to take a picture.

So just call up some muffler shops or try to ask around and see if there are any good shops around. Then call them up and ask them if they do custom mandrel bent piping.... either buy your own muffler off of ebay or see what they got in store... I would go with magnaflow it is a low growl and when cruising it is not to intrusive but when you floor it sounds real nice. the dual tip makes it quieter along with the resonator.

OIC...
thanks for your info, JU.
I know muffler shop can play with pipings as how I want to get it done. But, do you think it would be better idea to spend like $250-$300 for the custom piping and universal muffler than getting $200 catback exhaust off of ebay? I don't know the quality of it... So, if anyone has experienced with this product, please give me info!!!

lok you just called me j00...

it is just chillin.

well it is better to get custom... the accord exhausts need to be lengthened at the muffler shop anyway... so you can just get the 2.25" piping plus the resonator and the magnaflow muffler for under 300.

my opinion is you'll be much happier with that set up than the cheap ebay one... and you can pick the style muffler you want... the single large tip, or like mine... looks like almost stock but with larger tips.. there are also ones that are angled if you look at it from the side the tips look like this:

______
\______

or you can get oval outlets and things like that... the single tip is kinda loud and buzzy. so I suggest the dual tips. Magnaflow is great quality too not some cheapo crap.

haha..
Thanks for info with nice drawing..
I want to get something like HKS hi-power(angled) or tanabe racing medalion.. That is the style I am looking for...
How much would it cost for piping and stuff, when I bring my own muffler down to the shop?? I know I can just call them up, but before I do so, I want to find out how much I should pay at the maximum.

there are probably 2 bends that they have to do with their mandrel bending machine... (makes pipes have same diameter through out the whole length of piping instead of using crush bends which restrict airflow) so that will probably be $40-$50 bucks plus the piping and the installation plus the resonator ur looking at about 200... or so.

but seriously think about dual tip muffler because ur ears are going to be ringing after you get out of your car if you go with a single large tip.

hehe... that is what I'm trying to find out... how loud that cheap exhaust for accord is. Also, I was told that they are the same size for CL as well from other cl members. When you said the exhaust system is shorter and needs to be lengthend, is that from your personal experience?

well I did a lot of research on exhaust before I got mine... some of the accord exhaust have to be lengthened... that is not from experience but from the experience from others.

cheap exhausts are loud and buzzy because not a lot of reseach went into them and they just "look-like" the brand name ones do. wish you could hear my exhaust sounds nice. when I start the engine the low rumble vibrates my roomates wall lol.

Another vote for Magnaflow. I haven't heard many of the other options, but I like mine. Its pretty deep. I didn't get the resonator at first and she was LOUD. the guy at the muffler shop recommended a glasspack resonator and it sounds nice and deep, but not too loud. I do have a 3.0, though. Plus I like the stock look.

some pics

mikes muffler in el monte california...

but I suppose you can go to any performance muffler shop and ask for a magnaflow performance resonator. That is my only experience with resonators and well I like it a lot.
