You guys know I traded in the CL for a Jeep Grand Cherokee last month - Yeah I know, go ahead and flame me, but I needed the space.

Well anyways, I started checking out some off road mods for the Jeep and low and behold, I found some performance mods for the JGC! THis is my short list of mods for the winter so I can hit the streets in the Spring:

AIRAID or K&N Cold Intake System - 18-26 claimed HP
SNORKEL Baja style Cold Intake System - 20 climed HP
POWERAID Throttle Body Spacer - up to 20 claimed HP
JET Performance Module - 15-20 claimed HP
BORLA Cat back Exhaust
Free Flowing Catalytic Converter
Drilled and slotted Rotors with Hawk Brake Pads
Various lift and lowering kits
Wet and Dry NOS kits



Do you smell a reincarnnated CL in a 4x4 body? Sounds like most of the mods I had on the CL!!!!

Just think, a stock JGC V8 can hit the 1/4 in 15.7 secs, with some mods, I should be high 14's to low 15's easily and still have 7,000 pounds towing capacity and 4 wheel drive!!!

What do you guys think?

Seriously, I didn't think there was so much in way of aftermarket performance for the Jeep. It's good to know.

You def won't get spin with 4 wheel drive...should make a heck of a launch...

 

I've seen a 13 sec lifted suburban at the Fontana tracks. I thought that was crazy shit, and it was an old one too, like a 1990. Imagine pulling up next to him only to get your ass handed to ya, lol.

 

Get the borla exhaust!!!!!! It sounds so SWEEEET.

Any CAI made for that v8 will give you pretty much the same gains. There so much you can do with those jeeps. I had an inline 6 cherokee for almost 6 years before the CL. If you want some good message boards and info sites for the jeep to hit up, let me know.

How do you get gains from a snorkel???

I thought you get those so you can off road in deep water and not flood your engine.

I have a friend who had a supercharged 1998 5.9L LTD along with some other mods. It ran low 13's. I drove it once and was in love.

 

AIRAID CAI on the way, along with the POWERAID throttle body spacer.

Waiting until the summer to do anything else, it's time to fix the Probe GT and get it ready to run low 14's for the summer.

 

I hooked up my Cherokee too....thats what the wife drives....dynomax exhaust, meaty tires, k&N air filter, billet grille....oh yeah!

if you see the mods, can purchase the mods, go for it you have nothing but the road holding you down(keep it 2wd though or you may break something!!!).........by the way.. love the floormats

 

hey my hommie back in ct had a 79 cj7 and would pull a 13.5 in the 1/4 and his ride was beautifull till he crashed at 120mph. he droped a chevy 350 from a vett and had it featured in some mags. so yeah jeeps can go fast !! they just need some help.
