ok i know its played out by now, but i've a muffler question..?

Searching the forums isn't helpin me out, i'm not a newbie so i'm allowed to ask this again! Okie i want some sound. I dont really give a shit about power because the amount of money it costs to make the 3.0 fast is way beyond my budget in my teenage lifetime here. But I want a deeper tone just so that i can hear it. I DO NOT want to wake the friggin neighborhood up. So i came to the conclusion that I should just change my muffler. I'd like a nice DTM maybe angle'd tip. But if its going onto the stock piping that means we need a 2.25" inlet correct? Does anyone have any recommendations on mufflers? Please guys try not to break my bank. Namebrand doesn't mean shit to me so long as it looks and sounds good and is relaiable. Thanks guys in advance! :-D

if you don't care just get one off ebay. They aren't name brands but they look nice.

well i bought an angled dual tip DTm style muffler off of ebay and put it on my 2.3 and its pretty loud. its loud enough that i am considering buying a new muffler, something like the N1 so i can have the potion to put a silencer on it. i think that you should go with one that has a silencer.

I just had my exhaust done....

I had a custom pipe bent CAT BACK at 2.5"... The guy told me that our stock piping is a 2" pipe with around a 1.5/1.75" inner pipe...WTF was Honda thinking!!!!!

I use an Apex-I N-1 exhaust... With my Injen Cold Air Intake, Throttle spacer, comptech headers and my new exhaust.. my car ripps ass and sounds like a V6 beast!!!!! I am REALLY LOUD.. but its great!!!!

the Apex N1 and greddy evo are really loud on the V6's. the greddy dunk sounds nice, deep and not too loud compared to the evo and N1... the outter piping, which prevents heat, on the exhaust of the CL is 2", like casper said... so the actual exhaust piping is even less, obviously. if you dont want anything too loud the best sounding imo would be the dunk, although the N1 is loud it does sound nice at wot. if you do get a muffler either get cat-back piping or at least axleback piping, just a muffler on stock piping would sound real shitty and offer no gains what so ever.

Excellent response bryanz3.0cl, you really summed it up nicely for all of us. Thanks for your input.

To change the muffler, you almost have to make an axle back anyway. Our piping on the 3.0's is at a shitty angle back there. I am having a Greddy trust SP bolt on axle back muffler made for me, with the oem honda flange. That way i can sell it when i am done with the car, or when i am sick of it. A nice muffler on stok piping will still add a few hp, due to less back pressure. The sound really would not make a huge difference either, like i said, to have a nice install done, you have to have quite a bit of piping welded back there.

The DUNK is discontinued... I tried to get it and no one had it...

The throttle spacer is a 1" plate that sits btwn your throttle and the manifold... it adds a swirl in the air to the motor and adds a bit of a boost up high... nice touch.... (kinda gay) but also adds a whistling sound so it seems to replicate a Turbo spool.... Reactions are priceless though!!!!

ghander.. shes loud... and definitely takes gettig used to... unbareeable for al those outside arounbd the car... I will be getting ticketed soon I am sure for noise polution...

get one of those carbon fiber mufflers off ebay. They look so sweet, not sure how they sound, but they're all pretty much the same. They cost like $99-119.
