Oil Light

i was wondering if the oil light on 99 or even any other cl acutally works? cause i went about 6k miles on a single oil change and nothing came on. and i was also wondering if its true that you can go 7500 miles on a single oil change like it says in the manual?

the oil light only comes on if your low on oil.. it'll never come on for a routine oil change..

only in granturismo does it ever come on like that.. lol.

btw.. if your using synthetic, 7000 miles i heard is okay..

on standard engine oil.. should be about 3-4000 miles

I think he's talking about the little square on the cluster that changes colors when you need to have your oil changed. Am I the only one that has that?? Mine changes from green to red when it needs to have an oil change and you get it reset when you change your oil. To answer your question, mine works fine. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Damn 6k miles on regular oil? Jeez I get paranoid when I hit 4k...Did you forget?

Dont quote me on this but I dont think 6k miles on regular oil was too good for your engine, you were running on dirty oil for probally the past 2k miles.

the little square thingy isnt for oil changes.. its just trying to get u to have scheduled maintenence every 7500 miles or so..

( i think its pointless.. just another way to scam acura/honda owners of their money)

i wouldnt change oil on the little square thing though.. its safer to get oil change every 3 to 4 thousand miles

especially if you live in hot area's (cali, florida) the dirtier your oil, the hotter the engine gets.. thus less gas economy and a lot more stress on the engine

10k, you're nuts man! your engine just probably lost a year or two of life.

and the bastard got on the freeway. I chased him for miles doin like 80-100. My girl started crappin her pants cuz it was morning rush hour. then the lght came on
so I just took the plate # and called it quits.

Really? Mine has yet to come on from pushing it. I run at 4500 - 6250rpms for 6 min straight in 2nd gear racing at GMR. That and my gas light has never come on either. Sometimes I wonder if it really works.....

Since you live in Cali, and it's nothing but stop and go traffic, I'd say change it at 3500-5000 depending on how much you like to push it. Wouldn't go any higher than that.

Well Honda recomends 7500 mi between oil changes with a genuine honda oil filter. I figure I can go further with synthetic. I've never gone 10k miles before, but It's super cold here and I have no time and pretty lazy :P

hotter weather is what puts strain on the engine..

It is chilly, that's why it took me so long to change my oil . Oh and one more thing...
