title said the miles on odometer is acutual but...

i just found my sis's civic odometer has been rolled back by checking carfax....

she bought that car from private seller about 2 years ago...

seller rolled back about 40,000 miles


is there anyway i can punish that seller??/

she spend a lot of money to fix that car

What does carfax do that makes checks if the odometers rolled back ? and why wouldnt a title reflect that?

 

When my friend was looking at cars for sale. He found one that was rolled back. Carfax looks for things like yearly inspection. Where they would compared the mileage on the car.

It is a federal offense, as stated above, but the seller can get off by claiming, "I dunno anything about it" depending on the situtation.
