No luck after searching and searching......motor swap question...

ok heres the deal...........im rolling with the f22 automatic...i wanted to do a motor swap but I wanted to keep the car automatic simply b/c i dont plan on running it on the track and dont want to change it.(would rather get a new car then deal with the conversion of auto to stick)... I just want the swap for the DOHC..more power/ higher top speeds...

what other motors/ auto tranny combo can i put in my cl????
would they fit in the mounts like the stock f22 and auto tranny or would it need to be custom

The first 2 you posted are H motors with auto trannys but the last one is an f20 also auto tranny. I would go with one of the H motors if I were you. That first one looks clean! And I always thought the H23s didn't have vtec..

I agree I'd go with one of the H motors. The 1st is clean but man the 2nd is almost half the price.

Wow...so i guess you've never seen my build thread nor my avatar huh lol.

Any one of those motors would suit you. Pretty much any H motor is compatible to bolt up with any F transmission, auto or manual, you just gotta get the right ecu for it. The less money you spend on the setup, the more money you'll have to install it and fix all the little kinks here and there. Trust me, the cash to have some leeway with will come in handy, i should know.

chris said it best. it will work. but i think it will be difficult to find an Ecu that would work with an H22+F22 Auto trans. wiring that thing is going to be a bitch. i think your better off using an h22, picking up and h22 trans, and and H22 auto ecu. it will save the biggest headache of wiring.

anyone second that?

Yeah, the best way would be h22 w/ h22 tranny and h22 ecu I agree, I was just saying you can use the f22 tranny, because it does bolt right up

Haha, I can't tell a difference in looks between an H22 and an H23. I though you were just H22. I could have sworn that there was an H engine that didn't have vtec... Guess I've just read wrong.

yeah theres an h23 without vtec. it comes in the older preludes. 160hp base. USDM H23's are non vtec, where JDM Yo H23's are vtec. i believe.

the older north american preludes had h23 non-vtec engines, japan also had them except they called it the F22B.

you can run it off the stock f22 ecu but that sucks for dohc motors. obd-2 h22 ecus have immbolizers and no obd-1 h22 came auto.

so i got a obd-2 to obd-1 auto ecu jumper(one for a 97 accord works) boomslang or rywire
get a p15 tcm from a 92-95 prelude with h23 auto
get a p13 ecu(auto or manual works)
i have this set up running a 98 f20b dohc vtec on a 94 accord transmission in a 97 cl, runs/shifts perfect, no cels or issues, even my D4 light works
