Newbie- Looking to pick up a CL- Trans question

I am in the market for a CL and noticed that 01-03's have serious tranny issues. Has anyone had any huge problems with their Auto or Standard Trans in their 97-99 CL?

85k first tranny, I drive it hard with no problems, they make a tranny cooler for the auto's, runs like 40 bucks, saves the life big TIME..

No issues in the manual. Lots of issues wth the auto. Plus i think you can do more to the 2.2-2.3 engines than you can the 3.0...I may be wrong though

97 3.0 with 161K on original transmission and I'm the original owner so no doubts there. I have towed a motorcycle trailer and a double trailer with two Waverunners. Not at the same time of course. I think I got one of the best CL trannies out there.

I've only had a problem with the slave cylinder, but that was like $70 for parts and labor. I have a 2.2 5spd.

The problem many of us face is that the original owners of our cars didn't do the required maintenance. I think that is what kills most of the 3.0 transmissions. Mine, when I bought it had all the paperwork for oil changes, T-Belt change, and some other stuff, nothing on the transmission. Come to find out that fucker knew it was bad when he sold it to me. I prolly would have bought it anyway, but it would have been nice if he had mentioned it. Fucker. 2nd transmission is now over a year old... Just did drain and fill on it in September and she is still perfect... so take that for what it is worth. A transmission cooler is just and additional part that acts like a heat sink for your transmission fluid. The car has one built onto the radiator, but the secondary coolers are simply an additional safety move. Acura says they are not recomended because it hinders the tranmission cooling system from functioning properly... But there are many people here that have them and their cars are fine.
