new to these forums, got some ???

whats up everyone. im in charlotte NC.

my 240 seemed to have gotten a little unreasonable to drive everyday, so now im getting a 3.0 CL for a second car and to bring to school in the mountains. but i have questions.....

what car(s) does the CL share a platform with? i always thought it was built on an accord platform, but they look alot like integras.......

and does the CL share very many parts with whatever model it shares a platform with? i know in the nissan world, the parts are very intechangable and it makes things alot easier.....

sorry if these are n00b questions, i know just about nothng about honda\acura except that i like the styling of the CL, always have. appreciate any help you can give, i wanna have an idea of what im getting into here.

It shares the same platform as the 94-97 Accord and the engine / tranny with the 98-01 Accord. Beware of the 3.0's combustable tranny though.

Parts are very interchangable between the CL, Accord, and the Prelude eg. H22 CL

nice s13.

3.0 = v6 automatic (known for their weak tranny)
2.2/2.3 = 4cyl auto or 5 speed (notoriously known for being slow)

if you dont care for speed. id say pimp the cl and use it as a cruiser.

or you can be like me, get an engine swap, auto to manual conversion, and a bunch of bolt on mods along with some custom engine work and get a speed demon (sorta)... haha

Well I said that cause he has a 3.0 and probably doesn't want to bother with 2.x details.

lemansteve: i did search. alot. and never found anything on bad trannys....so im glad i asked....

i want the 3.0 because, well, i like the saying its a 6 cylinder and not a 4....and i want it to be a nice cruiser, like you all said, so i want it to be top of the line, you know, for the ladies

anyway, just how bad are the trannys? do they pop from everyday driving or from people beating the hell out of them?

as for my S13.....*sigh*....it currently in the shop, ill find out today if it has a bent valve or not (dont ever work on your car when your really frustrated at 2am, just wait till the next day......) it dynoed at 232rwhp when i first got it, and only had a air filter, 3" exhaust and a boost controller.....

since then ive added: GReddy FMIC, S-AFCII, HKS cam gears, Toda .264@10mm cams, 3" downpipe

the suspension: Silk Road coilovers (8 way adjustable), Nismo TC rods w\ whiteline bushing, super HICAS power steering rack (less turns form lock to lock, incase you were wondering why that was mentioned)

the interior of the car is also completely redone, with s14 seats front and back

and ive painted the car twice, but wasent happy either time, so i just stripped it and flat blacked it, then i came across an OEM nissan aero kit (im not sure how i got that lucky) so thats it for the outside

its not the fastest car in the world, its mainly the suspension that makes it a unreasonable to drive, and im putting too much on the motor (it was rebuilt a little over a year ago) but i usually dont loose races it was built to be a fun car. heres another pic, it was the mock fit of the aero kit

all the wheels are on there now...i ran over a nail so i put the big tires on the back for a few days, till i got around to getting new tires.....(funny thing is, it handled better with the wheels like that!)

and my bumper is finished now, like as i said it was a MOCK fit, as in, to make sure everything worked right. everything is on there and squared away now, just waiting for a nice warm day to prime the rest of it.

Sweet ride, As for your question, the 3.0 tranny will run for a long time, if it's taken care of, but it is just a prewarning that we like to give out. Also, your 240 looks nice, do you have any updated pics, since you "mock fitted" the body kit?
