New system build lemme kno watcha think
Well just finished up the box for my 08 Kicker L7 15". First of all much thanks to mattastick for helping me design, and helping me understand enclosures better than I did. Kudos man kudos. The dimensions are 36 wide x22 deep x14 high. With port area of 56.25 cubes of 4.32 and tuned to 33.9(which is prob around 36 after the bracing and sub(which is what I was shooting for). Well It turned out ok, I don't have the steadiest hand but im happy with it. Ill be buying a table saw for the next build. All and all costs me $40 to build(not counting the bed liner i have previously it's about $50 a gallon, but it will do 4 large boxes). I put 4 coats of liner on it and I really like the look. She will be goin in the car this weekend should slam. Going to be pared with a rockford 1200 (on the factory bose head unit). Ill prob sell the system before to long, and do another one as I get tired of stuff pretty fast. Well thoughts?

Why bedliner, you ask. It's durable as all get out and it's easy to apply. carpet can be a pain to apply, and can get costly if you use good box carpet (I'm sure I got ripped off, but I payed like $10 a yard for the stuff covering my box). Then you have to factor in ~$10-15 for glue, and it just adds up. Or you can go pay ~$50 for 4 big boxes worth of cover... Plus carpet comes off, unlike the bedliner. This fact can be positive (it's not going to come off, and the wood won't get torn up) or negative (it's not coming off, and therefore it'll never match your trunk). It's all personal preference I guess, but I know people who've used it and don't have any complaints about it. Also, most bedliners just roll on, where carpet has to be glued, stretched, cut, etc. to make it look good...

Not only does it roll on, but it's scratch resistant

why bed liner you ask? Well even kicker is going that way they sue the rubber less type on some enclosures. It also helps seal the box if you missed any spots. Looks different I don't like using carpet cuz hard to match and everyone has it.

I need to finish up a system for my car. I'm sick of the aftermarket Pioneers in the back and stockies up front All the sound is in the rear of the car

I got a guy about to buy my sub so that I can buy the new one that I want, so that means rebuild... unfortunately, rebuild means all kinds of glass, new box, more wire running, etc... basically a whole fresh trunk... should be a lot more usable than on1wheel01's...

for now 4 gauge if i keep this sub I am considering buying one for 15 L7 and another amp and knockin like hell and if i do that then 0 all day. yea most ppl like carpet but i like to be different. I'm thinking about powder coating my amp white to match the car just to be more unique

CL in lawnmower status
never seen those rockford's powdercoated, it would probably look really good. Hmmm... you're giving me ideas now as i have a rockford that looks almost the same as those 1000bd's, but mine is only a couple of months old and i love the chrome look. I guess i'd have to see what yours will look like.
You should def get 0 guage tho, especially when running that much power, i'm running a bit over 1000W RMS and i got 0 guage run. I just wanted to as the inputs for the amp are all for 0 guage wire

im a big fan of the solorbarics. I had a L5 10 in my integra hatchback and it has some beat for only being a single 10. that would look good powdercoating the amp cover white. And if you wanted to you could tape off some graphics or stripes on the box to add some white highlights to the box.
