New Intake Gaskets When Cleaning EGR Port?
#4
i changed the upper intake manifold gasket and the tb gaskets when I cleaned out my EGR, just to be on the safe side. The EGR port is in a small hole in the upper intake manifold, you can't see it unless you take the manifold off. By the way Mach, i haven't thrown a CEL since i cleaned out the port. *knock wood* How'd things turn out with your o2 sensor?

GT - I cant get rid of the fucking CEL, for some reason even though i know the port is clear it doesn't work. I supplied direct power to the correct pins from the battery directly to the egr and it lifts, so now i'm thinking its whatever tells the EGR to lift. It would be a shame to have to take it into acura and have them tell me its the port, they psudeo clean it and charge me 300 bucks. I dont think its the O2 sensor, so i haven't done anything to it, i keep getting the same EGR code. I hope at least yours stays clear.
For the origional poster - check out a thread in the problems and fixes forum that i started about the EGR, and if you need me to, i can fax you a copy of the honda service bulliten that gt also has and we used to clean the ports.

Mach, did you ever figure out your EGR problem? Mine is still throwing p1419 code. Cleaned EGR port, Flushed Intake Manifold... Clear out code on a weekly basis. Havn't had enought $ to just replace it.
Any suggestions?
... and while im at it sorry for the hijack

i might break down and replace the EGR, but .. but
i've applied power to the egr directly from the battery, i forget what goes where, but the sucker lifts and almost stalls the car. So i know the egr isn't "stuck" or frozen. I donno. its either the EGR its self, or whatever controls the egr did you come up with anything?

If the throttle body gasket rips when you take it off, then yes and be sure to use a razor to scrap off as much of the leftovers as possible. The gasket is like $1 i think.

If you mean 1491 (instead of 1419), that's EGR Insufficient Lift. I had P1419 and P0401, which is EGR Insufficient Flow. I cleaned the port and replaced the EGR valve and never saw the codes or CEL again. There is a lift sensor in the EGR valve, it's an internal part and you will have to replace the whole valve.

GT - I just noticed last night that my CEL is gone - so one of two things happened, the light blew out, or some how the fault cleared its self..... any thoughts?
