New Intake

Well, I bought one of the Pro Car parts cold air intake system... the ones that are on ebay for $50. I havent gotten it yet, but its on its way. I figured how bad can it really be? I mean, once the filter gets dirty i'll go out and buy a K&N filter. Does anyone here have one of these?? If so, how do you like it?? How's it sound??

Yeah, the bypass will fit... all it does is replace that one silicone coupler where the 2 pipes meet.

I think they go by size... so you'll have to see what diameter the pipe is and go by that.

Yah, i'll take plenty of pictures when I get it thrown in there... its silver, so it'll match my car too (kinda).

Dusty... I dont think i've ever seen you mad on here before!! chill...chill... go to a hardware store and pick up some black rubber hose and hook it up. theres only one short hose you need anyway. If you cant get anything out of the company and you dont wanna buy anything, gimme your address and i'll send you a piece of blue silicone hose.

Hey guys i'm about ready to do my intake as well. I was going to go for the AEM Intake with the Bypass valve. But it seems that you guys are just going with these 'universal' ones. Why is that? Will there be a difference in performance? Also; can anyone give me an idea on the price of the AEM Intake with the Bypass as opposed to the Universal INtake with the Bypass Valve?? ~I'd appreciate it guys; thanx.

i got my intake from procarparts.com and it only cost me 50bucks+s/h and im also planning to get aem bypass valve...so i saved about100 bucks. well...i dont konw about the performance..i'll have to see after i install my intake. im racing a mercedes and souped up super ricey eclipse this weekend!! wish me good luck!

well $140 for an AEM and $50 for a procarparts.com is a big diff in price. Is there really a performance difference?

I am sure this has been beaten to death and is in the FAQ's but...

My 2 cents say that as long as the tube is engineered corretly. (i.e. bent in all the right places, correct size, and has all the required mounting hardware/hoses and it is made from at least steel)

It doesn't matter where I get a CAI from, from a performance point of view. Only price will be the determining factor.

If the above critera is met, then only the air filter at the end of the tube determines performance.

The cheaper CAI have garbage for air filters (compared with a quality air filter like a K&M). So I will buy a "cheaper" CAI and add my own K&N. I live in the FInger Lakes of NY and it rains and snows 200 days a year...so I will buy a bypass vaulve as well.

I'll use the $75-100 for HID headlights and other goodies for my CL.

Good Luck dpvistaz

Where are you finding a CAI for $140. They are usually more like $200

Thanks,

I appreciate the offer! I have some extra yellow hose from my short ram, but the "gaskets" (or whatever they're called) that came with the kit are blue!

Not the end of the world. I'll get color coordinated somehow. I'm planning to install it on Saturday.

Finally got it in today! Removing the resonator/box was a little more involved that I thought, but still relatively easy. Click on the link in my sig to see the intake (not yet color coordinated due to time contraints).

Oh, what the hell. Here 'ya go:
