New headlights + question + help

Hey guys,
just got my new headlights in the mail today. Put em in, and tested them out. I bought a pair of high beams and low beams 7000k. They're HILITE Superwhite XE bulbs. Well, the light output is not as bright as I hoped for, when I'm driving. But when you look at it from outside, it seems pretty bright.

Now, for the problem/question: The left high beam bulb *blew* in the housing as I was taking pics of it, so I had it running for about 10 mins. I made sure that I did not touch the bulbs when installing them, so I'm not sure what made it blow. Also, I touched the outside of the headlight, and it seemed pretty hot. I dont think I've ever touched it to see how hot it gets when stock. Anyone know?

Anyway, my real main question is: How do I get the shattered glass pieces out from the high beam housing?

I took some pics of the superwhite lights. I also have stock..check em out.

Also, how would I go about adjusting the angle of the low beams? I'd like to point them up just a tad bit, so I can see a little further ahead.

Thanks guys!

Adjustment is covered in the manual, but if you look at the top of the light you will see a little level and a place to adjust the height by using a philips head screwdriver.

What was the bulb wattage? A lot of aftermarket bulbs are really too high to run off stock wiring and sockets. I melted a bulb that was over the stock wattage, but I've never had one blow. To get the glass out, either you need to take the headlight out and shake and/or open it up, or find some tiny-ass vacuum attachment.

....it literally blew up? what the hell?

I think you have to take it apart....

Also they are FAKE HID's, just the color, so the output won't be very good...about the same as stock.

You need a real HID kit or a Projector swap to have nice output

The wattage on the bulb is standard 55W for the 9006, and also the standard wattage for the 9005. I emailed the seller to see about getting replacements, but I really need to get the glass pieces out, and I don't want to have to take apart the housing. I guess I'll have to try and find some tiny vacuum attachments.

you probably touched the lense of the bulbs and thats how it blew up man

the only way to get the pieces out is to take off the headlights and try to dump out the pieces

you do this by taking off the bumper and taking off the headlights, there are 5 10mm botls holding in the lights

do a search for instructions on how to do this, it has been discussed on here many of times before

this had happened to a spare headlight i had that i sold to a member on here and all i did was take the light and tip it so that the pieces go towards the hole and then use some needle nose plyers and take the pieces out, also shaking the headlamp will also get the pieces out

And this is why you dont buy rice headlights.

Sylvania Halogens light up the night just fine and 90% better than blue painted bulbs.

I think I have an idea. What if, I took a skinny stick or something like that..and put tape at the end of it, and just picked up the glass peices with the sticky side of the tape??? DAMN, I'm a genius!! How do i sleep with all this genius-ness?? :P
